read about psychological manipulation strategies of narcissists and then apply the information in analyzing hadiths and the quran you will be shocked at how much manipulation there is in these books it shocked me. There are some good morals in Islam but most of it is just manipulation by Muhammad to get what he wants. And liars do not just go up to you and say HEY I AM GONNA LIE TO YOU RIGHT NOW. no it is very VERY difficult for an inexperienced person to tell whether someone is lying or not so that is why most people assume that because others say muhammad was as sadiqul-amin then it is reliable because hey how can something be false if so many people believe it, this is a logical fallacy. I'm a Mulsim- still a Muslim. But what I like about Abdullah Gondal here is that the discussion is respectful. I don't feel many people who are debating Islam are being respectful and they just mock and taunt. I don't agree with everything with him but I respect his views. It is appropriate as the foundation of God`s religion from the time of Adam until the end of this world. Submission to God is the essence of the message brought by all of His prophets, and it was the name of their religion. It does not matter whether a person uses Hebrew or any other language to express the concept of submission. The name “Islam” is an Arabic term used by the final prophet, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) because he delivered God’s final message to the people of Arabia. So, the claim of Islam, first and foremost, is that its name is suitable as a name for the true religion of God. Furthermore, the central teaching of Islam is reflected in the name itself. This is a good response. We can prove this argument is useless in anyway. Here it is.... Belief is not a choice belief is the output of being convinced. Can you choose to believe that you can fly? No, but once you are convinced that you can fly you will hold the belief. You may be convinced of something by false reasoning, that's ok. The point is in order to hold a belief, you must be convinced first. 'What if you are wrong? you will end up in hell' is a useless argument in Abrahamic religion. So in order to avoid hell, you should believe in God(Allah/or any). A person, who is honestly not convinced of the god will pretend to believe in the god in order to avoid hell (as per the argument). The point is he is not honestly believing in the god because he is not convinced, he just wants to avoid hell, so he is kind of cheating and telling outside the world as if he believes in the god but inside his heart he knows he is not convinced. So on the day of judgment, when he is in front of the god he may gladly say that he believes in him. But God is omniscient, right? God knows past, present, future and what is going on his mind and everything. So God will read his mind and get to know that this guy is not honestly convinced and cheating to avoid hell. I don't think a dishonest, cheating guy will end up in heaven if so I can dishonestly say I believe in god but that will not be the case. So ultimately the guy will end up in hell. Now, what's the point of 'Pascal's wager'? If God is not omniscient, then this will work. That means we can cheat god.

You can imagine a situation like this. Let's say you want to get people's opinion about your appearance. People who say that you are handsome will get a brand new car. People who say that you are not handsome will get a brand new house. Now, one guy thinks that you are not handsome in other words he is not convinced that you are handsome. If he says that you are not handsome he will get a brand new house, but he does not like the house instead of the car. So just to get the car, he comes to you and says that you are handsome. Now, you have the power to read people's minds. You just look at the person and realize that this person just lying to get the car. Will, you just give him the car or not give anything at all for cheating?

I get concerned when young articulate minds are so wrapped up in religion. Take a minute to imagine a society with religion at it's core, where everyday activities are focussed on intense worship and prayer. Would there really be any room for creativity and innovation. Imagine a society where vibrant young minds were only programmed to enhance one's own spirituality. Would we have the advancements in science and technology like we have today. If there was a complete separation of advanced civilization and societies who put their all I'm religion and were absolutely divorced from modern health care, science and technology. What would these societies look like I wonder , and this applies to all religions. It's easy to live with the advantages of modernity and extol the virtues of your lifestyle over the rest of the world while enjoying the benefits of items created and developed by mainly those devoid of religion or pay very little attention to it. It is the free thinking minds that provide the necessary support we need to achieve the lifestyles we experience today and that's NOT to be ignored

why not "just believe in something" when it makes no sense for the person...just believing out of fear? I think you would loose two very important things here...1. beeing true/ sincere to yourself and 2. restricting your way of life and decisions in life by subordinating them to religious rules. Especially in Islam those rules have a realy big impact. In the end you let your life and thoughts beeing dictaded by a religious construct, i find thats quite a lot you can loose there. Very ordinary and even incorrect response from Gondal tbh. He gave examples of correlation of happiness index with non-religiosity, but correlation doesn’t imply causation. Even if we were to ignore this, even then the metric of happiness for a Muslim who believes in a life after death is very different than the metric of happiness for a non-muslim. Similarly his point about not having an objective divine morality being a good thing is so easily refuted that I can’t believe he made that argument. In other words, Gondal gave a very good response for people who don’t think these things through or for people that have an already existing bias against Islam/theism.

It's better to seek the truth (study science for example) than to think that we might never know the truth and simply adopt religion and stop asking questions. If you read the Quran, it doesn't encourage you to study and do research but only to see what Allah made, which are his sign, and believe in them/him. The signs are very silly though, and we know that 7th century people would not explain the natural world. We don't need Allah to hold ships on water or birds in flight, but without science, that would have always been the "sufficient" explanation (for the religious people).

NO. Omar is clearly wrong here. Omar too, is talking like there aren't other religions. He needs to realise that he himself(a muslim), is an atheist to all other religions. What if islam is wrong and christianity is right? And what omar said is a logical fallacy called pascals wagers. "If Atheist are right, nothing would happen to me, but if they're wrong, they would burn forever. So therfore, a it's better to be religious because it's like a "win-win" situation for the religious person". Also, Omar is hinting that, one of the reasons why he's still a Muslim, is because of hell. That's why it is said that Atheist that are good people are more genuine than that of a religious person, because they are not doing it for some special rewards nor are they doing it to prevent torture(hell). But in my comment, I think I was referring to evidence that doesn't rely on holy books: (1) The so-called "Evidence for reincarnation" that has been collected. But there is another explanation to the traditional explaination of reincarnation, which I think fits better and makes more sense. (2) OOBE that can't be explained by purely "this physical dimensional space only" explainations. (3) the many cases such as in a book like "30 years among the dead", by Carl Wickland. Summary of that: michaelprescott.typepad.com/michael_prescotts_blog/2012/10/book-review-30-years-among-the-dead.html At the very least, even to someone committed to a Materialist world view, I think that provides reasonable doubt that that world view is not correct, and more likley conciousness exists after death. It's a canned predictable secular world virw answer and his ideas and morality are "tied" to the relativism of that doctrine which "stagnate" him and keep him from evolving towards absolute truth . Also so called macro evolution is not necessary or foundational to true biological science. It's largely a myth behind biology that provides a meta narrative that is largely unnecessary. NO. Omar is clearly wrong here. Omar too, is talking like there aren't other religions. He needs to realise that he himself(a muslim), is an atheist to all other religions. What if islam is wrong and christianity is right? And what omar said is a logical fallacy called pascals wagers. "If Atheist are right, nothing would happen to me, but if they're wrong, they would burn forever. So therfore, a it's better to be religious because it's like a "win-win" situation for the religious person". Also, Omar is hinting that, one of the reasons why he's still a Muslim, is because of hell. That's why it is said that Atheist that are good people are more genuine than that of a religious person, because they are not doing it for some special rewards nor are they doing it to prevent torture(hell).

Funny how you accept micro evolution but not macro. Macro evolution takes thousands and sometimes, millions of years to evolve. Evolution is a natural process where species adapt for survival. The great Sunni scholar RASHID RIDA from al azhar when he first heard about evolution clearly said it's not in contradiction to the quran and he said this over a hundred years ago.
