Why You Should NOT Buy New Golf Clubs in 2022 | Supply Chain Struggles

I have been asking "Where are my new golf clubs?" for the last 6 months. In September 2021 I went in for my first golf club fitting, knowing that supply chain issues might affect delivery times. My fitting resulted in me being fit for Taylormade P-790's with KBS 120 Tour shafts. Initially, I had the impression that the issue was with Taylormade, only to find out that KBS Shafts cannot keep up with the surge in demand for golf equipment. KBS offers an amazing product, but not being able to keep products on the shelf keeps will keep them in a distant 2nd behind True Temper. 6 months and counting...

Brutal! Supply chain is effecting everything and anything. My club still hasn’t gotten the second batch of range balls they ordered, even after the first half was delayed 4 months. I had to wait 3 weeks for new woods because Golf Pride Midsize grips were never in stock, and I ended up having to go with Lampkin’s.

This falls on the OEM’s as well, they should be signaling to retailers/shops that certain and specific components are not available. And the retailer/ship should stop fitting those components unless they are explicit that they cannot guarantee a build/ship date. There are enough overlaps across manufacturers that a suitable alternative can be used.

Everything! I agree that OEM’s should be doing better at communicating shortages. Retailers should definitely be sharpening their skills to be able to suggest comparable substitutes during this time.

WoW!! I ordered the new P790’s w/ KBS shafts through Golf Galaxy during the TaylorMade fitting day prior to the release date. And mine came in prior to the release date back in September.

LOL… How do you like your P-790’s? I called up golf Galaxy because that’s where my friend got his from in January with the True Tempers, but they told me that they wouldn’t be able to get the KBS shafts in any sooner either at that point.

6+ months?! Good to know. I have the True Temper x100 shafts (130 grams) and KBS tour v shafts (120 grams). I like them both. Whatever makes you feel confident will produce better swings, strikes, golf.

100% agree, confidence is key. Knowing what I know now I would go w/ a shop that does their own builds on-site.

@@ParfortheCourse if you need wedges, I would also recommend Artisan in Fort Wayne. Not going to be the cheapest or fastest to get, but the experience there is second to none.

Man good thing I ended up going with the 223s and modus x shafts. I wouldn't want to be waiting a whole season here basically. I got pretty decent time frame for mine at like a month and a half, but I did go through a local shop rather than a big box retailer. Hope everybody actually gets the clubs they order this season.

Brother, I’m playing Nike Pro Combos and it’s time to upgrade. Unfortunately I’ve ordered my new fitted Cobra Forged Tec X Irons. After seeing this, I think I’ll be waiting till august.

The Pro Combos definitely stood the test of time, but I was feeling the same way. Depends on what shaft you ended up with. I was able to pick my clubs up this week, and the shop said True Temper is having no problems getting shafts out.

@@ParfortheCourse I was prescribed KBS $ taper lite. Right after watching your video, I went on their site and saying are not available. Worst part, I work in Supply Chain and know exactly what’s going on in the world.
