Just because a game is actually a video game with what was once normal video game design does NOT make it "like dark souls"... it makes it like a video game. This was the era before hyper casualization to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Games weren't movies back then, you had to actually put in work to beat a game.

DMC 3 special edition is the game I'd personally recommend for a first experience in general, as that is not only likely one of the key influences for god hand, but also the game that really nailed that super stylish gameplay. Also its a prequel, so its a decent intro to the characters and story.

10:30 ackshually, you can updodge or even sidedodge that; it’s just a really tight window so you have to be basically perfect. All 3 dodges have windows of complete invulnerability near the beginning, but the repositioning can often compensate for dodging too early

I am playing through god hand right now and I would say my biggest problem is the learning curve. It's kind of a hard game to get into for newcomers because of how weird the gameplay is. I found the original dmc to be a much easier game for newcomers. That said, once you get a decent understanding of how the combat works, it becomes really addictive. The combat has loads of depth and customization making it great for repeated playthroughs. I also love the way the difficulty works. It's a really unique kind of adaptive difficulty, something like I've never seen before. Overall, I would say god hand is a one of a kind experience for anyone who likes action games and is willing to be a little patient with some of it's weird quirks.

I do find it weird how the game never really explains how the counter hits work considering how vital they are for being good at the game. I learned about the counter hits after watching Turbo button's video.

You should be fine on difficulty. God Hand is closer to Ninja Gaidens take on difficulty more than Dark Souls. GH & NG are more about execution and mastery whereas the Soulsborne games are more about patience and foreknowledge.
