Why you should play Into The Radius 1.0

Into the radius has been a big part of my small channel. It was my first and second video and my first video to hit 1000 views. Now the devs have announced a sequel I thought it would be an ideal time to go back to the 1.0 version where it all began.
There are a lot of ways in that the 1.0 version is different. Some good, some bad, some I wish the devs had kept in and some I’m glad they changed.

I agree with your bit about the climbing. It feels weird in 2.0 that the crane is the only clime able object. You can’t even jump. Felt like a pretty underused mechanic

Probably because you can do some pretty crazy shit like flinging yourself at mach 1 speeds when climbing. They should probably fix that.

Hopefully, the mod support in 2.8 will allow us to play the 1.0 map with all the QOL updates in 2.0. 1.0s map just feels so much better (other than the fact that you have to start from the beginning whenever you leave the radius). It feels more like you're walking into an apocalyptic area with unknown dangers and less about fighting through 1 big arena.

7:38 while I've heard this echo'd by many people in relation to the ability to have friends with you whether thats co-op or multiplayer, just remember: You're not forced to play it. If to you playing with another person brings down the immersion then you can always just play by yourself, I doubt the game would force you into a "lobby" with other players.

Plus it’s normal now to have vr cross play where both ports don’t need the same graphics because graphics only need to be client side. You’re acting like it’s still 2021 lol.

1.0 is just more like an apocalyptic wasteland than any other version. If I would get three wishes one of them could be updating 1.0 to 2.0 while still holding the 1.0 aesthetic.

Id just like them to bring back the artifact drops from killing enemies. It added a hunting element and gave you an incentive to fight instead of running or avoiding. Plus it added the temptation to stay and loot after a kill over gtfo of the area that everyone was just alerted to.

I agree. From my experience I think the drops should be more varied. I understand why but picking up the same thing over again was a bit dry.

i figured out i could play into the radius on its original version just 1 week ago and i will not come back to 2.7 v i basically played 2 different games. hope they will do a version for the pc and one for the quest. so once again 2 games in 1 key 😁 the only thing i miss is the revolver ☹

There are a multitude of multiplayer/coop mode games, what makes radius really creepy is the fact you are alone, I for one don't want to see multiplayer. I would like more in game daylight hours though or the time not tick down so quickly. But I am looking forward to the sequel.

I agree on the more daylight hours. I know the time in the radius runs faster than vanno so a setting to change it to real time would be good

Whenever I try to play the 1.0 version, it won’t work like I would load it into it and it will show me the startup screen, but I won’t show the menu to continue or start a new game

coop would be a nice add option to have but i dont think this would be a good multiplayer game. beening alone is kinda gives it its vibe/immersion having a random player talk shit well trying to kill you would change that vibe/immersion. though well i think beening alown is a big part of the game i do think it would be nice to have some ai humans like other stalkers or bandits though thare could be a lore reasons thare is non idk the story.(also i know the player ant a stalker but i forgot what they call the player in itr)

That’s a really good idea. Maybe there are some safe houses with people there who give you stuff or tell you about stashes. I do agree with you on the coop side though but if you find a friend who you can be equally immersed with it could be good

Ich finde eine riesige welt besser als mehrere kleine Ich spiele into the Radius gerade zum ersten Mal auf der Quest 3 und muss sagen es gefällt mir sehr gut ich habe erst nicht verstanden warum die Leute über 1.0 sprechen aber jetzt wird es mir klar wann hat in der Version Zweipunktnull so viele coole Sachen weggenommen Wirklich nicht nachvollziehbar das hätte noch viel besser werden können vermutlich hat ein Manager wieder seine Finger mit im Spiel gehabt

I tried updating to 1.0 and when I loaded, received a fatal error. I assume I have to uninstall and then reinstall with 1.0 to get rid of all my saved files. Is that what you did?

I put it onto my main C: drive, ran it through the oculus runtime. That worked for me

multiplayer could be good if done correctly, multiplayer generally makes the game less scary, so they can take advantage of that feeling of safety and use it against you, maybe things like mimics that can mimic the players to catch them off guard, and more traps/things you have to pay attention to (which would make it harder because playing with a friend is naturally distracting) maybe things like trapped weapons that maybe mess with the players (screwing up their map or flood counter etc while the player has the trapped weapon in their inv) and more.

I disagree with you on multiplayer. I do think multiplayer parties would cheapen the experience, but i think potentially hostile players like tarkov would enhance it.

I agree that it would cheapen it I remember thinking the atmosphere would suffer. But for me I don’t think a Tarkov style move would help - I get the appeal for it though

Ghosts of tabor is out now. It's essentially vr tarkov with ITR gun mechanics. It's a good game but it has a totally different feeling. More war zone than stalker genre. I could see them allowing coop in sequel but the tarkov model just doesn't fit. It's supposed to be a quiet, slow creeping danger that catches up to you when you're not paying attention, not the danger of mil-sim Chad who clears the map 3 times a night talking shit the whole time. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun party, it's just a totally different vibe. And If you roll into a chilled out hippie bash and switch the folk to metal, it'll just ruin the party for everyone.
