With Imbalance, Cranefish Town certainly comes out of the blue a bit, but I guess Yu Dao doesn't have the same Water Tribe presence that Republic City goes on to have. I guess maybe also Yu Dao has a bit too much of an established air at this point for it to become Republic City? In terms of the architecture and stuff. Certainly in real life plenty of cities pretty much sprang up from obscurity during the Industrial Revolution, heck I've spent most of my life living in two such examples (England's Manchester and Wales' Swansea, their nicknames Cottonopolis and Copperopolis giving away their industrial pasts), and Cranefish Town certainly has the air of that. I wonder if the location of Air Temple Island was already meant to have been foreshadowed a bit in The Rift when Aang talks about the island he went kite-flying with Gyatso on. The island in Imbalance seems kinda different, but a hundred years have passed, after all. Certainly the fact that Cranefish Town is built on a sacred Air Nomad site gives Aang a connection to the place, and more of a personal stake in it than Yu Dao. I kinda hope that the setting up of Air Temple Island proper will be a theme of an upcoming comic, or maybe part of the 2024 movie. Either way, maybe the most important point is [spoiler for the excellent joke at the end of Imbalance]: ... since Yu Dao is a perfectly good name and Cranefish Town is "clearly" a bad one, it makes far more sense that Aang and Katara would have to ask Sokka to come up with a new name for the place...

Literally every comic he said he “wasn’t too big a fan of”, just say they’re not good! The characters and storylines are the results of the writers brain degradation from huffing nonstop ATLA success whip-its 😂😂 it’s like reading a neckbeard’s deviantart fanfic please don’t waste your time 🤣😭

Same. It was heart breaking and understandable. It wasn’t the best decision but that’s what made her story engaging. What I didn’t like though was how the face spirit thingy undid everything for her. I’m not a fan of undoing things for the sake of a happy ending. Now there weren’t any consequences for her decision.

And on that note, we have to keep in my that everything we know about Ursa (prior to the Search) was told through flashbacks by Zuko. So it’s not to much of a stretch to say that he had his biases and placed his mom on pedestal, as essentially one of the few things in his upbringing that wasn’t completely fucked. Thus the Ursa we knew up to that point was an idealized version her that Zuko remembered through rose-tinted glasses.
