The Wandering Inn (long-time huge fan) and Pirateaba are my favourite immersive world, other than Tolkien, who will always be first in my heart. But you can't compare the two, and I love and respect Pirateaba. Her brilliant creativity and incredible storytelling ability are humbling. ✨💙🎶

as a fan of the wandering inn and a $10 patron of the author, this video pretty much sums up a lot of good points about the serial! i reccomend the ebook version of the first volume though, its more polished than the version on the website

I just brought the audio book as audible recommended it. It was the first time I even heard of this story....I'm so impressed I hope so many more people find it

The audio books are amazing. The narrator is amazing and her range of voices and accents is amazing. She makes each character sound distinct from each other.

Great read. I really love how loyal the author is to the characters personalities. The best Isekai i have read to this day.

Both Erin and Ryoka evolve, but also remain their core personalities. However, in Volume 2 the story starts to introduce more, and more complex characters. I think there is something for everyone; and the promise of this video (little fights and battles) is turned false by Volume 7: Fights, action and struggle is occuring in so many chapters - just Erin isn't in the midst of it usually. She still pushes everyone along with her, but she as the MC hardly even appears in 30% of the story. The number of protagonists to feel with, is easily in the several-dozen, and all is tightly connected. (This just as an additional recommendation + update on the video that was recorded during early Volume 6. Still, for those who can't sympathise with either Erin or Ryoka to begin with, the Wandering Inn is probably not the best choice to read.)

Ryoka is eye-rolling levels of edgy cringe early on. Erin’s fine for the most part.

@@calebblankenship9882 I like the concept of Ryoka, but Pirateaba's writing style makes some of her POV chapters a real slog to get through.

3:14 Since you mentioned Isekai, it makes me think of the sub genre of isekai that happens in inns or restaurants. Some examples are: "Restaurant to Another World" (coincidence or not aired in 2017, the same year The Wandering Inn started being published online) and "Isekai Izakaya: Japanese Food From Another World". Both anime are adapted from light novels.

Nooooo! Erin is neither harebrained nor easy to deceive! She pretends to be, and is very good at it, but she never actually is, and she understands perfectly well what she's doing. She even explains it outright a couple times in the story.

Nah in the beginning she is actually pretty dumb sometimes,only later on did she realize and start acting the part to throw other people off

I am in Volume 1, I have read 70% of the book and i can definitely say that I don't like both the female MC because the Inkeeper is sissy, stupid and Big IDIOT. The 2nd female MC (Runner) was just a few moments from becoming my favourite but then she starts picking unnecessary fights with people who helped her and showed her pitty. And you know what I am still gonna read and complete both the volume just to know why is this book well recieved by everyone.

luffy-naruto to really understand why we love piratesba's writing, i suggest reading the 1.00C and 1.01C chapters (standalone story within volume 2) the first book was pretty slow and not for everyone. Pirate really starts shining in these stories.

You fell for the trick oh erin. Appears stupid and airhead but extremely perceptive, insightful, and aware

Erin is much smarter than she seems. Pirate makes her seem like an idiot, but later reveals that she is actually pretty smart and perceptive. She somehow always gets what she wants and is great at making friends. Especially powerful ones.
@prinnywizzard96082 жыл бұрын
I'm obviously 2 years late, but for Ryoka (the runner)... honestly it made the character feel more realistic. She has a self-destructive streak and *knows* she's hurting herself, but it's how she's lived up to this point. Watching her learn to control it, and watching her grow as a character, is highly enjoyable. At this point (about halfway through the 5th book, not sure where that translates to the webnovel) she *is* my favourite character. I admit I never had a problem with Erin (the innkeeper); she's led a fairly safe, maybe sheltered life and suddenly she's in a world that doesn't make sense, and (at first) surrounded by people that are prejudiced against humans to boot.
