Good viewpoints. Just doing music according to mood.

Learn different genres so you can grow & expand. I started out in hip hop but being Jamaican I had to do dancehall, then I learned reggae. I’m a metal head at heart so I learned it to grow, now I do pop, EDM, Reggaeton, Afrobeats and alternative as well. Doing so much made me meet & work with some great artists and producers.

I do multiple Genre and always have however the word focus is key, you can do other stuff but where is your focus? I'm only invested in Hiphop, IE I like it the most, and I also know all about the culture and who did what when and whats been successful. I can make Drum n Bass, or Techno or Trap but while they might sound good I dont have a clue about those cultures or the history. I can make real good Drum n Bass but I don't have a clue who is or has been popular I cant list artist names lime I can for Hiphop. Thats important because I'll never infiltrate any culture and apeal to those who would buy or listen to that music which isn't Hiphop.

I don’t believe in genre. I listen to Appalachian folk music, noise, hiphop, and free improv and most of my tracks have elements of all of them. What genre is that?

Ah yeah, that's called Appalanoisehopprov. 😅😅 But seriously, I don't know, sounds pretty unique.

@@jonathanterol4528 surprisingly rough vocals, puffs of static, broke down beats and busted up guitars bathed in distortion doesn’t sound as weird as you’d think.
