In 1996 George R.R. Martin wrote a not so little fantasy novel that would snowball into a phenomenon, and cornerstone of television and pop culture for close to a decade. So much so that the success and demise of the TV show almost cast a shadow on the immense quality of the books it was adapted from. Today we are going to try explain why you should still READ Game of Thrones!

Amazing video! As for me: I've read the books once and loved it, it was amazing (I'm thinking on rereading them)... I'm quite optimistic about George actually finishing the series. I've been reading his blog for years and I do believe this time Winds is being nearly finished. And the more he spends on perfecting the novel the better the result is going to be once it's done. Yes, 13 years... but try to write such a book yourself! 13 years - it should be around 10 pages per month, equals around 1500 pages, which is quite a lot actually. I've read many B. Sanderson and S. King's books, those very prolific authors, but no-one comes close to the quality of prose that Martin writes, at least in my opinion. And after Winds is finished... even if he's 80 when starting the 7th novel, a lot of writers live 90+ years and I believe he can finish it. Perhaps the last book would be a bit easier to write than the Winds. But who knows. I also admire him as a person, I don't know him, but from reading his blog and seeing him on interviews. I think it's much better to appreciate what he has so far written than to focus on what he hasn't managed to write (yet). And there are always naysayers, it's always easier to give up and say it's impossible. It's for us - in our lives and our dealings - to prove them wrong:) Better ask: What if he does finish the series! ;) Remember this quote: "Those Who Say They Can and Those Who Say They Can't Are Both Usually Right."

Call me crazy but I think George is showing not telling with a lot of the events. For instance during the dance when Aemond wants Lucerys to pluck out his own eye then kills him. I think we are seeing exactly what happened a long time ago playing out with different people. The betrayal of the dragonlords and the corruption of the gemstones. Even the black/poison dragon killing the white and gold dragon is history playing out once more. The betrayal of the Targs/Valyrians killing the rightful heir to what had been the empire of Dawn. P.s. Balerion the dread could very well have been the dragon to do the deed and that's why it's hinted in F&B that he may have acted on his own when attacking Arrax. He may have even been made just for that purpose in a ritual similar to Khal drogo/Drogons dragon birth.

I say if u read the first 4 and not the firth u will be sastified and in a good mood. But if u read the 5th book then your gonna be pissed cause nothing really happens in that book no characters get any conclusion literally every characters story is left on a cliff hanger where its almost impossible to guess what happens next. Its a book with nothing but setups and has zero climax in my opinion the 5 and 6 books must be read together to be satisfying since the 5th book contains nothing but setups and the 6th has alot of climax. To put it into perspective each book normally contains 1 or 2 battles or big moments. The 5th book has zero and the 6th book should have atleast 5

I have been connecting the dots, and my mind is blown. Several if not all of the PoV characters are being warged into unbeknownst to them. Maester Luwin when he gets the wooden box. Ned when he strangled Lyanna. Jamie when he killed the mad king. Also, kings and hands probably meant something way different originally. The king is the one who wargs into people from a distance, and the Hand is his boots on the ground, kinda like Bran and Hodor. The pearl emperor was a warg king, pearl as in white eyes like when some men warg. People warg at night. Wargs are also described as dreamers. Dreams happen at night. The night king was/is a warg king. Old nan gives us clues about his identity. Old nan says, mayhaps he was a Stark, mayhaps his name was brandon. Mayhaps means you lied about something you said. The mayhaps is the word "was". The night king IS Brandon Stark. Not little Bran but Neds brother. Neds dad was burned brandon was not. Ned mentions the stonemason knew his dad well. He doesn't mention anything about the construction of the other statues. Brandon was supposed to be the hand for rickard in his life as a night king, but he has taken it for himself. I could go and on and on, but I will stop after this last revelation. Several of neds kids are the result of Brandon using Ned to commit abominations 😢. Also, some.. thing is warging into the targs and making the lizard babies.. and Tyrion (black eyes are from some non human warg, maybe a giant or one of the lizard people mentioned in twoiaf). I suspect mad king Aerys was even triggering this black eyed warging possesion to happen via blood/fire sacrifices.

The show's night king is not canon in books current but In books The night's king you talking abt is a legend of 100 if not more years old. Him being the Brandon Starks (Ned 's brother) cannot be. He was 13th load commander of nights watch who fell in love with a women broke his oath & went to nightfort with her. As described in Bran 4 - ASOS.
@pyramidion5911
@pyramidion5911 Ай бұрын
@@nirvana6708 about that... I'm still working out the details but I suspect that the Nights King is being manipulated by some type of Lilith figure/spirit. Some similar event has happened in the past and it probably resulted in the sealing away or banishing of this spirit that is controlling the "Night Kings" It's implied a few times in the books that people who cross over from death have tentacles/strings controlling them that they don't even understand. This gets into the whole shadow world thing kind of like Grrm did with Elden Ring. Brandon was dead for several days before the statue ritual could be performed(it's the ritual bran sees with the woman slicing a man's throat in front of a weirwood pool) If the amount of time someone is dead determines how much someone is corrupted by it (patchface and lady stoneheart for example) then Brandon is heavily corrupted by whatever entity is on the other side.
@nirvana6708
@nirvana6708 Ай бұрын
@@pyramidion5911 I don't think there is any nights King figure tbh , Grrm has openly said he doesn't like dark lord types & likes to write about human heart in conflict with it self. It this link works , here I wrote abt how weirwood tree are corrupted & these others are coming from them ( credit to Michael who talks abt stuff - as like shadow babies ) projected by greenseers for blood sacrifice to these trees which has been stopped.

We don't need an ending? Please. If we don't get one, then the contract has been broken. The one inherently between storyteller and listener/reader etc. I would be equally as annoyed if I never got the ending to Hamlet - regardless of the writing. No ending - no catharsis. It is ultimately hollow. I love Grrm's universe. There are, however other universes just as fascinating out there. With, might I add, finished stories.

Why does the narrative that they ran out of books still exist. Let's actually plot out the seasons. Season 1 was a compacted version of book 1. Season 2 is a compacted version of book 2 with some additional scene added n that actually cut out more book material. Season 3 and 4 were a compacted version of book 3. Notice how book 3 took up 2 seaeons. That is not what will happen next. Season 5 are bare scraps of books 4 and 5. The books were taken chopped up and they n condensed into one of the worst drop offs in quality from one season to the next in television history. They wasted at least 4 seasons of material in 1 extremely terrible season that revealed the naked Emperor for all to see.
