Why You Shouldn't Buy Pacedegon | Creatures of Sonaria

WARNING: LONG RANT AHEAD Disclaimer: I'm not in their Discord, if they provide lore then I know little. Pacedegon, despite my love for its uniqueness (AKA not yet another random conglomeration and tidbits of unknown horrors beyond human comprehension and really takes inspiration from real life animals), represents everything wrong with Sonaria creature design; - The roar only a scorned mother could hear. - The goofy aah lower jaw tusks piercing its abdomen everytime I roar. - WE LOVE UNNECESSARY AND BIOLOGICALLY REDUNDANT KNUCKLE-WALKING. - Armor, for some reason. Sonaria creature design is based off of how cool things look. There is a complete lack of any ecological nor lore reasoning why these things are. The most interesting creature they've made so far is, in my opinion, Sana'ata but that's only because its claws are akin to that of burrowing mammals such as moles. It makes sense knowing that Sana'ata dig through terrain in order to devour the minerals within the ore. I don't mind cool vanity items like the swords of Izt or the helmets of Pace but give me a reason for why they are. Oh, Athu is a golem because Boren created it. Boren is a golem because uh hur dur. Izt live in volcanoes and are echoing remnants of their strength. Also its only girlbosses here, to the point where we straight up starve males. Melted weapons on our backs? Idk what you mean. Pace? "We were born of the mountains. We roam and protect the tundra from all who seek to ruin the balance. But then, the Wardens came. They feigned their promise of protection and enslaved us. Now, with our shackles undone, we have come heralding war. " -headcanon I play COS because its the only decent creature simulator out there. DECENT. There are no "good" ones out there. Not that I know of. I honestly wish they'd spend more time working on the survival aspect of the game rather than constantly churning out high-effort but sub-par creatures. But at the end of the day, this is a kids game.

Try "Lands of Vericta" It's a simple game, but easy to farm stuff here and the creatures aren't that expensive And I'd like to mention, it was survival and some logic in it atleast.

Actually, another (somewhat) interesting take on the knuckle walking, could possibly be kendyll (this is gonna be a huge stretch) looking at the kendyll it's old model was a dinosaur and the new one is more of a quadrapedal take on the design, taking the somewhat logic here. It could possibly be that the new kendyll design was actually a descendant of the old one and kept the non-pronating wrists of the old design however used it for a more unique body build. However this is still all just some crazy conspiracy from me so I'm still with you on this one

Fun fact: to hold up those mastodontic tusks it's lower jaw would need to be extremely muscular to ever keep from dislocation meaning this thing would probably be able to have a stronger bite then most carnivores in this game

There's a proposed or agreed upon buff in the discord rn, It's a buff to its weight and especially health, the main idea of it getting the unbridled rage ability was for it to become a walking tank with heavy damage but it ended up just being a hard hitter that never hits anything because it loses half of its stamina to its ability so it could never chase nor run from an enemy.

I'm gonna say it again, you are hella underrated. Which honestly suprises me. This video is full of not only critizing (which is used in the right and fair way) but its only good education about how the realism in creatures of sonaria really is, but I also love the comedic things inputted from time to time. Extremely good video, especially on the critic of the look on Pace. I absolutely agree and there were some things you pointed out that I didn't even realize, great job. I actually like the idea of creatures walking on their knuckles. In fact, it's my favourite of locomotion in the game. It'd make sense, heavy creatures that are quadrupedal would require knuckle walking because forelimbs designed to this such locomotion results on wrist joints being stronger, while having the same amount of pronation. Like a gorilla :> But hey, my preference. Which explains why Boskurro, Cryptoth and Yeba are my favourite creatures xD

I'm going to have to disagree and I'm going to have to correct you there. It's nice to see words like "locomotion" being used but your knowledge on anatomy in this case doesn't make much sense. I don't remember an elephant walking on knuckles and last I checked they were much bigger than gorilla. I'd explain how elephants and their limbs work but it'd take too long. Animals like elephants, rhinos and etc. evolved like this because it best suited them. Also using a primate as an example isn't really helping the case, they are too different and far off. Good try though, the fancy words made it seem like it'd work. Why am I typing this out? Because I want people to learn more about animals! Hazah!

@@Frown_U2 You're right, my bad. Instead, knuckle walking animals such as primates didn't just use their knuckle walks *just* for locomotion, they also used it for specific dexterous actions. Such as, manipulating an object like no other flat-footed creature would. And yes, Elephants didn't walk on their knuckles but instead had feet best adapted to absorbing the shock each foot would place, in return making themselves quieter. Yes, best suited for them. However, Primates and Elephants aren't the only example for these two different types of movement. Knuckle walking wasn't limited to just object manipulation, a good example for this is the Pangolin and multiple ant eater species. They all walk on their knuckles, but lack the needed object manipulation skills to do anything usefull. So instead, they used them to dig up ant mounds instead. How is this relative though? Well, it's relative because you can have a elephant like creature that uses Knuckle walking Locomotion. How so? Quite easily, a different route through evolution would've brought it there. Like the Pacedegon. Instead of having flat feet like an elephant, it could've used it's claws to dig up stuff for more nutritional resources or even- Object manipulation.

@@Frown_U2 Also, when I mentioned "heavy creatures" I meant by the heavy creatures in Cos. Such as Bosk, Yeba, and ofc all the others. Knuckle walking is just a better way of locomotion, tbf. It best suits a creature that needs to manipulate objects, dig up certain spots, or cling onto stuff. Like how Boskurro would cling onto a tree (In the lore) Who knows, maybe Pacedegon is best suited for it's in lore behaviour.

@@cardinaljwfkstudios6583 I would like to applaud you on your knowledge relating to "locomotives" and basic understanding of why primates and whatnot walk on knuckles. It's true, they walk like that not only for "locomotion" but for other purposes such as "object manipulation". But I don't see how it proves the case for Pacedegons walking on knuckles. You bring examples like Ant Eaters... I don't get that... I also don't get why you'd assume Pacedegons would act as such too because look at their body structures. They aren't built to even be able to properly lift their front legs, let alone use them for any sort of digging or clinging. They also have large armour pieces that would make them pretty much handicap from properly bending. Oh and the mountains on its back also proves that these creatures do not have too much exciting movements. I don't understand why evolutionarily speaking or even logically speaking would a creature grow and evolve to making their "fingers" contort and bend backwards, holding up large amounts of weight and yet not use them. This just doesn't make sense, hence the only logical answer would be saying it's "just a fantasy game". If that's the case, your assumptions or your thoughts/comments on Pacedegon might make sense.

@@Frown_U2 I bring in the example of Ant eaters to prove the theory of convergent evolution. And please, I need no applause. Convergence could play a big roll on why the Pacedegon would have a knuckle-walk. If you look around at the Creatures of sonaria, a huge portion of them have this same feature. They most likely evolved this adaptation due to.. lets say, the environment? There's no description on what the Pacedegon could do or what it can't do, so saying that it couldn't lift its front legs or use them for practically anything other than walking would be Invalid. Boskurro's stiff body structure and short limbs would make it impossible to climb up a tree, even just line itself up for it- yet, in the lore it is able to do so. So, we can't make any assumptions on what the Pacedegon could or couldn't do. With all these knuckle walking creatures in the game that aren't related to eachother.. there's got to be a reason? Relating Pacedegon to a modern day elephant isn't really a smart thing to do, since both come from very different worlds where they most likely function very different from eachother. Otherwise, every titan sized creature wouldn't be able to move!

If im being honest, this elephant, mammoth looking thing was really expensive, and the fact that i have not seen a single player even play as it. Its a good thing i never really planned on buying it. Had my oxi rekt it, all you have to do is stay out of its grabbing front range, which was easy for me, lol. It's a great tank with the same health as the king, but it's too slow. It looks weird but still unique in it's own way, it's speed is fat. And it's complete doodoo from this struggling grandpa gorilla elephant with its front legs from the ice age

Gyro gramoss gnolrok these 3 can beat the living crap out of the chunky elephant with feet or foot twisted back wards and also people over price it to much and they expect auras to be offered for it even a para is way more better para is quicker to grow then this mammoth ways these 4 could win which are gram,gyro,gno,para Para:spam breath and dive bomb Gyro: use earthquake and get to its back grab on it boom keep on bitting and its done for Gno: you could just spam its breath as its fr quicker then the mammoth and the breath is insane when it comes to dmg and slowing Gram:it has more armor and dmg so big advantage Also flyers like jot,sochuri,para,sar,etc can also solo as they can just glide in the air and spam breath the mammoth Do not fight the mammoth with Undo,cryp,sal,or any other small creature that has low health and dmg usually use tier 5 as they can be better but you can use jot as its better then a sang
