A pitcher can disengage the 3rd time but if he doesnt record an out then he is charged with a balk...

The ones who are saying mlb is dying are mlb haters, it's doing fine and it's here to stay

Very true, ton of people who are "giving up" on baseball may have never even watched to begin with

I have not given up on baseball. What I've given up on is Manfredball. The REAL game is still being played by independent operations such as the Cape Cod league and the Ontario-based Intercounty League and those manage to get through games in less than three hours without artificial rule changes, pitch clocks or banning the Shift by just... playing the game. The basics: control pitching, putting the ball in play, base-hitting, switch-hitting, sacrifices and small-ball tactics. Managers making decisions and taking risks instead of letting spreadsheets and charts do all their thinking for them. Funny, but games actually run faster and are a lot more interesting to watch when you play the game AS DESIGNED instead of staging Home Run & Strikeout Derby instead of baseball. Manfredball is NOT baseball. Get rid of Manfred. Get rid of all the analytics geeks running MLB into the ground. Get rid of all these bullshit artificial rules which will NOT speed up the game to any meaningful degree or make it more interesting. Bring in pitchers who know how to pace themselves and throw things other than the fastball. Bring in managers capable of making independent decisions and get rid of bums like Joey Gallo who can't hit a barn with a paddle (as Mickey Mantle would have said of him) because all they know how to do is swing for the fences. Fuck all this launch-angle, strikeout count and pitch velocity bullshit and just play the game the way it was meant to be played.

Couldn't agree more. I truly believe that any team that decides to play based on the fundamentals of the game will be successful. It's just not happening much anymore and it would be a significant advantage to be bunting, stealing bases, playing strategically....without the analytics...just off of baseball knowledge. Been barking up this tree for a while now and it's only gotten worse. Hope it changes back over time...these rule changes give me some hope.
