You can reserve seats on line in first and second class train compartments. It’s never crowded there because only passengers with a reserved seats are allowed. Especially on Ella Odyssey train.

1st class has only reserved seats with windows closed cuz A/C. BUT 2nd class has one carriage with reserved seats and another one without reserved seats. So YOU CAN RESERVE 2ND CLASS SEATS WITH WINDOWS OPEN, and reserved carriages never will be crowded. Only 3rd class doesn't have reserved carriages.

We travelled to a new city and mostly checked in before exploring so we didn’t have to leave luggage behind, but for Ambuluwawa Tower and Grand Hotel we had luggage, so we just zipped up the rain covers super tight and it was ok! The security guards helped us keep an eye out too, and then we locked our valuables under the driver’s seat where there’s a compartment 👍🏼

No, it is a totally wrong idea, because of the tourist attraction this year traiin is crowded, anyhow if u book ur yockets before one or two months voa railway website or at fort sattion or by some u cant can easily get tickets

I believe you might have been paid by tuk tuk rental company to do this promotional video. Kandy to ella train ride is considered the most beautiful train ride in the world. It’s a must to do when you are in Sri Lanka. Riding a tuk tuk can be done in many Asian countries. I believe it’s sour grapes for you guys.

i understand! i would love to take the train next time, but not when there have been a lot of delays and a huge crowd. people were exhausted standing armpit to armpit with each other for 4-6 hours. we personally preferred the freedom and privacy (and scenic route) of the tuktuk. looking at your username.... i don't think you're unbiased either, so no need to be accusing someone for having a different opinion.

@@ceylonsaga the hill country was called "kanda uda rata rajadhaniya" in the kandyan era which means "the kingdom on top of the mountain".. but the british thought its too long so they took the part kanda and called it KANDY.. the ka in kandy is pronounce like ca in candy.. not tamil kandy.. tamils took the term how British called it.. And no kandy isn't tamil? T f u saying..?

"Kandu" means height,big in tamil "kanda" means the mountain god (kataragama deviyo) "kandasamy" means the mountain god. sinhala word කන්ද derived from tamil word called kandu (கந்து) for your kind information bhairava kanda temple originally belong to lord Bhairava
