A tip on boarding if you play blunderbuss: if you get your gun out before boarding and you are on the top of the ladder (still grabbed onto is) and someones guarding it, you can let loose of it shoot him really quick and grab the ladder again. its very hard though and requiers some practice

Interesting. I'm more of a PvE Player, but I know that unless someone has an aliance flag up, always treat them as a threat. There is one type of PvP player I hate: Those pirates that are willing to persue you for an hour without having any evidence of you having loot.

I didn't know about the fishing rod one with the Kraken. Did you know that if you are boarding a galleon and the ship is rocking enough toward the opposite side, you can let go of the ladder and literally run up the side of the ship. This makes boarding a gally with good players easier as they won't expect you to simply run up the side of the ship.

When I first started sea of thieves I got surprise attacked by a galleon ever since that day I'm always expecting a pvp fight to occur so I'm always keeping an eye out. Situational awareness is key!

One of the things I really struggle with in this game is being able to defend myself as a solo sloop. If I am attacked but pretty much anyone it's extremely difficult to survive. Even PvE skeleton ships are extremely difficult to survive against as a solo sloop. I normally just try and not sink and outrun them until they skuttle. And certainly it's absolutely impossible to defend yourself against other hostile players when they are in brigs or galleons. I don't know what to do about it. I really enjoy solo slooping most of the time but very regularly I find myself putting in hours of game time to work on emmesary and then getting dunked by much larger groups. I know it's a game but it also feels unfair and like a waste of my time.

Not sure if you know, but the smaller the ship the faster it is when going against the wind, and the more sails/bigger the ship, the faster it is going with the wind. Knowing that made my life so much better as a solo slooper

Dunno if I've ever heard someone talk about the cannonboat as an extra cannon. I do that quite often if I'm duo slooping or got an alliance member with me. Definitely makes sloops so much more dangerous

One more tip...there's an alliance offer flag for a reason. Forming an alliance with someone allows you to get money when they turn in and allows you to track a crew who has nothing to steal so that you can steal from them later. You don't have to pvp everyone. If your willing to form an alliance, sometimes you'll find other crews who are fun to sail with and talk to on the seas.

@@simula152 actually, not bad because it covers all aspects of the alliance flags and reminds people that they don't have to seek to be pvp lord's all the time. Alliances can be fun even if they are shaky. It's even rarer to alliance with a reaper but know that they are probably going to sink you when it's convenient for them. The pvp can be fun but if pvp is all you sail for, you're going to have a very one dimensional experience of the seas.

(yeah, she also bought the game, but she doesn't like to chase other players, because of that, we died a lot of times where we actually had a lot of attemps of to escape or fight, we end up dying for following my sister's instructions... then she tells me why I'm mad only because a reaper's ship sunk us in 30 seconds but 30 minutes before I said to her: We have to go... WE HAVE TO GO THERE'S A FREAKING REAPER'S SHIP ON THE NEXT ISLAND!! And she was like "I don't care" XDDD. What was she expecting? a Reaper's player giving her a kiss on the cheek?? That's why I told her: You are playing a Pirate game, killing and robbing other players are a extremely big part of the game. It's not a secondary thing like the Str1p Club in GTA V.

Believe it or not, you dont have to be toxic or rude to engage in pvp. It's generally easy to tell who is looking for a fight and who isn't; Just leave people alone if you can tell they just want to chill and be left alone. Look for people who actually want to fight you, instead of being a sea bully.

Dude, the one thing that sucks about videos like this, is when you bring to light something that is (quite honestly) an exploit(talking about "silent reapers") the devs will patch it out. Great tip though, gonna give it a try tomorrow while stacking Sea Fortresses the way LD Sylvr showed. Btw, if anyone knows how long the silent reaper technique has been a thing, please let me know.

The way I got good at pvp, it’s actually crazy. I went and actually did pvp. And after so much practice I got good. People gotta understand that SOT is like anyone other game on the earth. The more you play it the better you get at it. But I swear people put it in their minds that pvp is this toxic part of the game that should be taken out. IMO it’s the best part of the game and the only reason I’m still playing it. Yeah it’s fun to loot but after you buy everything you want cause it’s all cosmetics, you kinda are only left with pvp unless you like the grind. Edit: I also learned something new, that sloop tuck spot is so over powered, will for sure be trying it out thanks!

I think the main problem is that SOT is designed kinda like an MMORPG and has a lot of similarities to world of warcraft. Could you imagine if people could steal your whole inventory in World of Warcraft? There would be hell to pay. 75% of players are playing SOT like an MMO grinder and the other 25% are playing a PVP game. Its made even worse since there is nothing to encourage the grinders to fight. Why do people run? Because it is objectively the best strategy if your not good at PVP. And because of the way SOT is made it is practically impossible to encourage PVP since any PVP objective could be achieved through cooperation. The game has 2 halfs that actively harm each others experience.

People react like the pirate legend cause, yes its a pirate game, but "passively" (srry for the english im italian) is very competitive sometimes. When a server is create different type of players join in: not only pro player, most of the times are random players. I think rare need to improve a sistem like "pirate rank" so the people can find players at their same level. Cause if ,for example, a random one spend hours for looting a try to make some money and same-level player fight with him is a equal battle, if one like you sink him without giving a chance is normal he get angry a start to be toxic. Most of the times is not skill, but hours spend in game which made you a good pirate.

They probably underestimated their opponent too, thinking they're gonna win with little effort because they're "so good", then they lose and their ego is hurt, so they have to blame something other than themselves instead of looking at what they could've done better.

The reason I dont think match making would be good in this game is because its designed to have pve mixed with pvp. People who are really good at pvp would have nothing to steal and people who only play pve would have nothing to fear. It would hurt the very core system the game was designed around wich is loot being used as a pve mechanic with the purpose of drawing multiple players together to battle or cooperate.

Fishing rod trick has been patched out, silent board ads does not work if moving in water u must b not moving in water for it to b silent, immobilize ships first, then cannon lowers, this will cause cannons to slow, fire is best friend vs gallies especially under helm. Gg well played says aye!

Attacking ships who even fish does give ingame (captaincy ) and even SOT website progression that will be worked on even more in the future. Because right now the game is just attack, attack, attack and everyone is a murderhobo because of it. Also another big thing is persistent harassments what's the point in sinking a ship when they will be back in 5 minutes to harass you? When you sink an enemy crew they should be transferred to a different server to prevent this. Honestly this game should have never gotten past the drawing board do to how many flaws it has and this is coming from a person who has made 5 games and takes part in Game Jams. The moment a similarly themed pirate game comes out its gonna eat Rares lunch. Its pathetic that after 8 years of development they only NOW have the ability to name and customize a ship in detail. "It is a pirate game, you shoot other pirates" is pretty much the complete opposite of what real pirates did. I really like the idea Rare put out there, they want us to share the world. So having PvP is fine, and you should also respect people who try to avoid it. Just keep in mind arena mode has been removed, not the standard game. So from my point of view, shooting each other is definitely a way to play the game, but you miss out on a lot of adventures and social interactions like this. My most epic moments aren't about PvP at all. So i can understand his frustration to a degree. Also I really suck at PvP even if I try really hard, so getting flamed for running away when I know for a fact that I will simply lose is equally toxic. This game is not entirely about pirates shooting pirates, you are just playing this like it is fortnite. This game can be so much more.

You’re not completely wrong but I wouldn’t call merchants or treasure hunters “pirates” as a pirate by definition is someone who attacks and robs ships at sea. Therefore one could argue reapers are the only real pirates in the game. So a reaper attacking a merchant sloop isn’t unrealistic. The other thing though people can cry about you running away all they want but a good pirate will catch you and a good runner will get away. If you know you’ll lose the fight then hell yeah run away dude but just as it’s okay for you to run there’s nothing stopping them from chasing you. Don’t listen to what people on the internet say at the end of the day play the game you want to play but you just gotta recognize in a game called “Sea of Thieves” there are going to be thieves.

I've been playing SoT since release and it's my all time favorite game. I also loved pvp. So I understand the argument that it's a pirate game. But I became Ill. I was often in the hospital and whenever I was at home I wanted to play SoT but without the stress. I love SoT. But PvP has become too stressful for me and I can't take it physically anymore. But sailing and enjoying in peace is unfortunately not possible. Yes, it's a pirate game. But now I wish there was an alternative so I could play my favorite game. But the Tips are good, thank you. Especially the silent Reaper and Kraken Tip :)

dont listen to this guy.... he is noob... this game is not pvp. this game is optional pvp. there is no points, rewards, achivements for killing and sinking other players. you can do your own voyages and get your own loot. it will be faster and better for you commendations and achievements. look on this dude he is playing this game for 2 years and have 125 achievements. i can understand in 2 years he didnt maxed out tall tales (but some he even didnt completed at all) but he still didnt collected 300 barnacle chest, still didnt sinked 500 ghost ships, still didnt killed 1000 captains, and other achievements are completed in so low lvl so im guessing in game commendations also are not completed like selling 100 grog barrels. dont learn to play from people like him....

For the silent reaper, u have to sunken first and take the loot? or drop all the loot to the water and take it back with the harpoon and touch it? I still dont get it

Once you sink a ship. Just harpoon the loot and aim the harpoon to the very top left corner and shoot to drop the item onto the ship. Make sure you don’t pick up any items until u put on reaper

That 'don't anchor' one doesn't work when you need to go ashore for treasure hunting though. The number of times the waves just sent my ship off into the distance are innumerable. "Just use the harpoons" I hear you cry. Yeah, those are about as reliable as a rowboat in a storm. Even when they don't magically disengage for no good reason, they can still stretch backwards as your boat wanders to the far corners of the map without you.

Your ship doesn't move because of the waves.. Your sails are either a little bit down, or your ship has not gone to a complete stop.

nice video i wonder if anything can be done to avoid being spawnkilled, last time i was in an alliance of 3 boats and someone kept spawnkilling me in my own boat i couldn't do a single shit he just one shots me i didn't have time to make a move i also want to know something stupid but does fat characters have a bigger hitbox ?

To avoid being spawn killed you cannot get boarded. Thats it.

Started playing this gam recently solo bc I hate grinding w other people since most time I move faster and after a long treasure hunt and I had like 5 chests and I make it safely to an outpost until I start unloading my stuff and out of nowhere a ship full of try hards wearing metal masks (I belive they’re called reapers or something) rammed into my ship and bombarded it then boarded and started taking my treasure while one kept me off my ship. Logged out and haven’t touched the game since

Impossible for a ship to "come out of no where" without it being your fault. It is really easy to spot ships from really really far away. Just next time watch out and remember there are pirates lurking.

@@Sigy well it literally did, I was unloading a truck load of loot by myself and it was taking quite a bit for me to do it. 5 min after I had gotten there a reaper ship came around the corner full speed and did what I described. It’s not like they were waiting there and I went at them like an idiot. Also I a assumed it was a safe haven bc the pirate rules flyer in the tavern i first spawned in said soemthing about being friendly in outposts. I’m not mad at the game or saying it’s a bad game so no need to defend anything I’m just telling y’all that I lost hours of loot my first time around lmao

Game needs skill based matchmaking, like so many games. There are tons of people in every video game that know everything and will wipe you 10/10 times. The only solution is to be matched properly with other players. There is a large enough player base for this too

@@Sigy Game needs skill based matchmaking. Getting absolutely destroyed by a galleon of pirate legends isn’t fun, it’s just fucking annoying. I’m new, so I have no clue what I’m doing. So, if I get placed into a server with other people who also have no clue what they’re doing, it’s gonna be much more fun. If we both suck at shooting our cannons then it’s gonna be an equal fight, unlike having a level 5 reaper sloop pull up on your treasureless, emissaryless (not even a word) ship and sink you without reason. Chances are people who aren’t good at the game just wanna have a good time, putting everyone in that server with other people who wanna relax, no PvP. People who DO wanna PvP and are good at the game get placed into servers with eachother, it’s a win for everyone then. Even if they don’t add it, they should just add an extra server with increased rewards, but I know damn well the egotistical tryhards are just gonna stay in High Seas and torment new players anyway, because they have nothing better to do.
