so so so often I find myself having a great first stock against better players, get barely edged out for the first stock, AND THAT EXACT SITUATION PLAYS OUT WHERE I BLINK AND SUDDENLY I'M DOWN 2 STOCKS TO 4!!! I will have to rethink my approach to HALO frames now
@killerbug052 жыл бұрын
What usually happens to me I fuck up the first few stocks then once I've got the rhythm of the match/opponents I start performing good, but by then it's too late, I can't pull off a comeback 3 or 5 stock 😭

As feedback, I really like how you tied all your sub components to really solid examples. Like the invincibility bit where you mention you do a shine that would cover run-through. Or the corner Marth fsmash as an example of skewed risk reward. Very solid video! Would love to see more like this.

I have a pretty unique approach to the respawn, where I will nearly always charge a full stack of needles and then still get a few frames to do something invincibly, either take center or uptilt/grab if they try to hit me out of charging even though I am still invincible (people try to hit me WAY too often, charging just makes some people lose all sense). I rarely do it, but having the mixup to actually chase for once on a last stock/game is really strong. On the flip side, I just always shino/sami stall between stocks when my opponent respawns and most people never challenge it whatsoever, even really good players.
@lagalil2 жыл бұрын
Thats weird, good players usually are able ledgehog your stalls between stocks. Its a mixup though, since you can lesgedash and take center stage before they do it.
@SSB_Seal2 жыл бұрын
@@lagalil You would be surprised how many people just position themselves to keep me in the corner when I get up (which I do, because I'm not trying to stall forever just dodge invincibility), but yeah often times two stalls into ledgedash is all you need to completely dodge it. One thing that always helps is starting with shino stalls but then doing a Sami stall on the last one before they are in position to grab because it's way faster. Plus if you are on FD or BF and they are port 2 they spawn all the way on the left side so if you go on the right ledge it's nearly impossible for them to get there in time to challenge it invincibly. Lastly, even if they do grab ledge and I react and up b on stage people miss the punish incredibly often. I have a bunch of netplay tournament sets on my channel where you can see it in action if you're interested.

Really love this video! It's great to see content from druggedfox in such an accessible format, and I'm hyped for more. I hate to mention it but there was one point in the video where the editing seemed awkward to me, at 2:29. It was hard to follow what Druggedfox was saying while reading the text and following the combo. I think this is because the idea hadn't been fully introduced yet, and there wasn't a pause given for the viewer to parse what was going on. Obviously this wasn't a huge deal since I could pause the video, but since you asked for feedback, I thought I should say something! Otherwise, I thought the editing was really tasteful. Every time I wanted some structure or clarity the editing gave it to me, and yet I never felt the editing was taking up the spotlight. So not too much, not too little... just the right amount. Great work to Kellen for this!

I feel like this video is great even for Ultimate players or even fighting game players in general to learn from. Obviously the respawn section of the video is Smash specific, but having a good gameplan in mind when you have the lead and having a better understanding of calculating risk vs reward is important in fighting games as well.

Brawl background, so grain of salt please. I typically tried to finish games early in bracket quickly, as to not use too much energy unnecessarily. I would usually be overly aggressive to do so, and sometimes this got me into trouble. Whenever I needed to comeback against a lesser player, switching to lame always worked. Lesser players often have no idea how to waste time, and would typically get frustrated and over extend. The key thing was to wait for that timing. The other point there is that when one has a lead, extending that lead should be the focus, rather than ending the game. The opponent will dig themselves into a whole trying to finish things soon enough. Patience is everything.

I let my opponent have a turn. I feel like the point is made so I slack off and let 50/50's happen. Play sloppy and accept taken stocks bc hey I'm up. Then they're hot, it's last stock and now I'm thinking more about how the opponent is feeling than my own gameplay............. But then we go again and I solidly 2 stock them.

@bidoofus79212 жыл бұрын
He took advantage of puff’s great aerial mobility to weave in and out of the lasers. He likely had a good idea exactly where the lasers would be due to a lot of experience being in that scenario, combined with the fact that there’s generally only a few specific ways Fox is capable of firing multiple lasers in one jump; Hbox might have been able to get past all those lasers just by watching whether the Fox did a fullhop or a shorthop before firing the lasers, which would give Hbox a lot of time to react and move away. Basically, a ton of experience in that scenario.

I don't know how it is in Melee, but in Ult l think there's a mechanic where, the longer you wait on the halo platform, the shorter your invincibility is. I usually just take the time to think about why I died, what incorrect assumption or guess did I make, and then move with less i-frames than someone who immediately wants to get back into it. I always figured since I play slower characters, I couldn't take as much of an advantage of the invincibility, but l should probably consider taking that time to set up traps in center stage instead huh
