I have an 2008 RR Sport SC with 138k miles on it. I have had to replace the Air suspension since I purchased it with 104k also the control arms. And I know I need to replace the parking brake cable but I never use it so that light doesn't bother me. I would definitely purchase again because I am one of the guys who like going off-roading. I live in Kansas so I haven't had much fun in the snow as of yet. I have had this since 03/2017 and the last time it really snowed heavy here was 2013.

Bought a LR4 and your channel was definitely pushing on the positives! Wow, people cannot really understand until they drove one for 2-3 weeks. I just feel like driving this truck all the time and I don’t fully understand why. Sure it’s comfy; sure it will go almost everywhere; it is quiet, nice looking and I could go on… but there is something else that I can’t describe… it is simply FUN to drive and that puts a smile on my face every single time I’m behind the wheel! Cheers!

Bought a 2016 LR4 a few weeks ago. 109,000 miles. But it's like new. Never thought I'd ever be interested in a Land Rover. Saw an ad online..Wow. that looks really nice. Looked even better in person. Bought it out of the blue. Then had a snow and an ice storm a week later. My 20 years old Oldsmobile AWD sat and spun all 4 tires. LR4, not a problem. Now I'm obsessed with the whole Land Rover adventure! Thanks for this video. Sure I'm going to love mine over the coming years!

Yeah! You will love it! You’ll need an OBD2 tool (GAP tool recommended) though and keep an eye on any coolant leek (plastic pipes) and supercharger coupler (noise). The rest is pretty bulletproof if well maintained. Welcome to the family! Cheers!

I've been told by two salesman not to get a Land Rover. My heart is broken. They say it's not worth it and it will break down and cost too much money to fix. Idk what to do and who to believe. I don't know why people hate Land Rovers so much. My friend was looking at one as well, he was told the same thing from a salesman and that was at a different dealership than the ones I went to.
@nihallee
@nihallee Ай бұрын
@@jcjanssen6391 Hi there! You have been told the truth. Like any car, it will break and will cost money. Too much? Well it depends on if you have a reliable small and local garage that can fix Land Rovers (where I live it's rare). If you go to the dealer every time something is up, then yeah, it will be too expensive. Example : Haldex on LR2 was over 10K at the dealer but it was $2500 at a small shop! ...and they ordered the parts from the LR dealer! Also, when you own a Land Rover and something gives, you better do some research on how to get it fixed. Getting a GAP IID tool (special OBD2 for LR) is a good investment for troubleshooting. You will be surprised, there are a lot of quick repairs that you can do yourself. Example : search for PCV valve replacement on a LR4. I just did that today in my driveway and it took 20 mins (had a check engine light, checked the GAP IID tool, checked a few videos on how to proceed and it was easy. Parts are expensive about like BMW or Mercedes I would say but there are cheaper alternatives that sometimes makes sense. You also need to watch videos about your LR model to get to know it and know the weak points ahead. For example, my LR4 was slowly leaking coolant. I ordered aluminium pipes to replace all the plastic pipes and changed the water pump while I was taking all this appart anyway. I'm really not a mechanics but it was fairly simple with the workshop manual (found online). The JLR engines really need to stay cooled otherwise they will get damaged (timing chain, gaskets, ...). Other then that, it's a normal truck. Breaks, oil, belts, pulleys... make sure you do your maintenances on schedule and it will pay off. Anyway, you will love to drive this truck so much that you will do the maintenances ahead of time ;o) I fully get that it's not for everyone but I hope this bit of info is helpful for your decision! Cheers!

Glad to see someone really using the LR3 the way it was designed for. I had a LR3 and it’s an insane all rounder. I took my wife and 5 kids from the UK to France for 3 weeks and it soaked up the miles. I felt like I wanted to drive through every country the ride is so comfortable. When it comes to reliability, I’ve found people who really drive the thing it lasts and those who treat it with cotton wool gloves it seems to give them problems. Mine gave no problems and it’s actually an easy car to fix if you like to get your hands dirty. The dealers will charge an arm and a leg but do it at home and you will save a fortune. Before the LR3 I had a Jag X-type and 3 years and 100,000 miles that gave me no problems. Keep up with servicing and the LR3 will reward you. Glad you like it and happy future adventures in the LR3 or maybe the LR4.

Love my 06 Disco 3. Bought in 9months ago with 188,000 miles, it needed a bit of work but nothing too drastic, been driving it for 6 months now and love the flexibility of the vehicle. Comfortable on long trips, lots of load space for hauling stuff around, tows well and does well offroad. The TDV6 is a really nice engine and the gearbox is fantastic, get great performance and good fuel economy. It's done 194,000 miles now and will need to do the cambelt very soon, but spare parts are easily available and there is loads of information online about any jobs that need doing.

I love my LR3 so much that I just replaced my entire air suspension system. 140K and it was starting to sag a little. New shocks, compressor, valves, and hoses. Where else am I going to find an SUV that has been maintained this well? My next one will probably be a Defender, but this has got a few years left before I even have to worry about it.

Great video, as always. Agree on all points. I have a 2012 LR4 with 100K miles on it. Replaced the water pump at around 50k miles and then the rear wiring harness for the back up sensors at 98k miles ($50 part and two hours taking the rear bumper off and on in the driveway). Everything else runs and looks almost flawless. I get comments all the time that my LR looks brand new. This is a great 7 seat family adventure vehicle. Perfect for commuting (except for gas mileage), winter activities and awesome for weekend family adventures in alpine timberline of the Rocky Mountains and the surrounding desert areas.

Hi. Great video, would like to add as you mentioned great for camping a couple of times, it's great to lay one's sleeping bag out and have a sleep. I live in Norfolk here in the UK, and a camping trip to Scotland is a 650 mile ride to get to the Scottish Highlands. As I am of advancing years, can't do it in one drive as I used to do, just get so tired. However I don't won't to stop for the entire night. Three hours sleep in the back of the Landy in my sleeping bag by the side of the road often refreshes me enough so I can drive on. No overnight costs incurred. Enjoyed your video, particularly as I love my Disco 3, bit more basic than yours, no leather seats or sun roof, never heard of a 'moon roof,' you Americans are just so pampered. 😁 Only joking! You and your family stay safe through these uncertain times and enjoy your Landy as I do mine.

Amazing car. Super roomy! Everything fits in it. You inspire me to do a total cost of ownership video. I bought my 2008 LR3 HSE almost 2 months ago. Black, with Alpacca leather...pretty much exactly like yours with 135K on it. I’ve been wanting one for over 3 years but shy away due to reliable issues. However, ever since running across your channel (over 3 months ago), I finally got one and loving it ever since. However, I have to disagree about the LR4...I like knobs and buttons. The LR4 (which I’ve test drove prior to buying the current LR3) is too “techy” for me. There’s more of a pick-up when accelerating compared to the LR3, but, I love the heavy-feeling of the LR3. Love your videos! Keep it up.

Because they are simple the best 4WD for practical use on and off the road. Yes, you need to do weekly checks, have some mechanical sympathy AND do regular maintenance at HALF the recommended interval and use quality oils only. I own a LR4 with the SCV6 motor, so supercharged and that alone makes it pretty special!

Great video my friend. I am just about to go on a 3 week camping holiday with my kids and it is the ONLY Landrover I can get all our kit inside. Yes, they go wrong sometimes but they will go anywhere and Jeremy Clarkson took one up a mountain in Scotland which has never been repeated by any other production car. In the UK, they are the only car you can drive across a field and then turn up outside a 5 star hotel in London covered in mud and nobody would care. Definitely get an LR4 when you can and get the CUBBY FRIDGE which goes in the armrest. Means you can have a cold beer when you arrive at a campsite. :-)

With that said, even though I can and do work on my own cars, I can’t like, pull an engine and rebuild it or anything like that. When I was researching Discovery’s, I learned about their terrible reputation for blowing head gaskets and all that. That’s definitely something I don’t want to deal with. I stop looking into Land Rover because of it. I saw an LR3 and started looking again and it seems like these newer generation ones are much more reliable. Thanks for this video. I love the LR3. Great review. If I'd have purchased the LR3 like I was looking for rather than the L322 Range Rover, I'd probably still own a modern rover. Your Jag V8 is supposed to be more reliable than the LR4's 5.0L or even the current V6s. You have one of the most reliable platforms Land Rover has ever made. Oh, and if you are concerned about Land Rover parts costs, try a Toyota Land Cruiser...ugh! Unlike Land Rover, you have few options for high quality aftermarket parts and OEM is actually more expensive than LR. If you are ever in Utah and want to hit the backroads, hit me up.

I’m a 2016 LR4 Landmark owner. Bought my black on black on black new. I was hesitant when I bought my first luxury vehicle fearing the brand’s history of poor reliability. After 80k not one issue. No electronic gremlins. I did have to apply my fix to the finicky 2nd and 3rd row sunshades. I live in the mountains of Colorado and I have been car camping, over rocky trails, Sand Dune trails, fishing, hunting, and the list goes on. I have taking it to conferences, the theater and always looked chic. I have hauled plenty of hardware with room to spare. I have taken the family across states in comfort and little road fatigue. I trust I will get as much enjoyment through the years as you did. Thanks for the great videos. You gave me the idea of buying aftermarket to bring to the dealership if need be.

...please keep the videos coming, they are fun to watch. I have had an '05 HSE since new and picked up an '06 HSE a few years ago as well. I've conquered a lot of terrain in my '05 and took it as far as the Yukon Territory in 2014. One point I disagree on. The LR4 is great, but the LR3 is better. The LR3 's materials are more rugged, and the 4.4 is bulletproof. Cheers!

I have a 2006 LR3 with 112k miles. Your spot on ,love your series always watch and learn. I went camping , loved it. Found a unique pleasant feature missing, while sleeping in the cargo area on my inflatable mattress. I woke to relieve myself only to realize OH @#$% there's NO inside handle to open the tailgate. So luckily I managed skoot up to a rear door over all my gear, opened the door, setting off the alarm. Ugh, the remote was stashed away of course lol. All this chaos because you are locked in with no means of opening the rear from INSIDE. Had to share.

An awesome video, thanks for making this! Loving to see these positive reviews of LRs for a change! I've been trying to find a "cheap and reliable" alternative for a Discovery 3 (LR3) for about a year now, including Nissan Pathfinder, Hyundai iX55 (Veracruz) and Mercedes GL. But the only car I've really liked so far has been LR3. I'd also prefer Discovery 4 (LR4), since it has better engine choices here, but used Disco 4s cost about twice as much as older LR3s with similar mileage. And many of those LR4s here have been converted into two-seater vans, because of a taxation loop hole.

Thanks so much for all your Land Rover Videos. I've been watching for a while and actually bought one with confidence because YOUR your videos. Its a later model used 2006 102 miles on it. I bought it two years ago so 2018 but I always wanted one and now I am at 125 miles. We use it a lot from work, school to the outdoors . Love going camping with our 5 kids and 3 dogs. Hitch up the trailer and go. I might upgrade to a LR4 as well love the brand. One thing I have learned is make sure you get to a Land Rover Dealer to do a once over on it just to make sure everything is working properly if you buy used. Do your research and find out what upcoming issues might need to be replaced. Get regular maintenance and be proactive cant stress that enough, if you take care of it and are proactive it will be worth it.

Dude, you did a great job accurately and fairly pointing out the amazing benefits and issues of this splendid and broadly competent vehicle. I owned one for a few years, and loved it, when it wasn't in the shop. Unfortunately, we averaged $3,000 per year in maintenance, but what a great car. If I didn't need to be more reliably available (not in the shop) in the winter to get my wife and children down 3,500 ft of elevation into Denver on their daily commute, we would still keep it. Well done.

Have a 2007 LR3 HSE and we’re absolutely happy with it. Best car hands down. Comfortable, roomy. As you point out, not a sports car, but decent acceleration. I do many of the small things myself, found an excellent mechanic shop for the tricker parts (SF Bay Area based). It drives like a tank - and maybe the only negative, consumes fuel like it’s free. Learned a couple new tricks watching your video - thanks so much. God bless, stay healthy and positive.
