I've heard people who live in hot areas say that they don't feed their birds corn 🌽 and corn you can feed your birds if you live in a cold environment because the birds do need it to carry extra fat to stay warm but if you live in a area where it doesn't get freezing temperatures their wouldn't recommend feeding corn because it takes too long to trim the fat off the birds

People say that you shouldn't go more than 3 rounds with breeding a pair how true is that or what are your beliefs on that ?

on this topic about a champion not being able to reproduce I think it has to do with mitochondrial DNA. A hen can pass on this mutation but a cock can not... Some times, in my view, these birds are a product of a mutation and this mutation makes it so they are more difficult to find a bird that will mix well with this bird and reproduce what it is, but if this is the case then only a hen will be able to pass these exceptional characteristics to it's kids.

I might be wrong but don't mitochondria cells don't have anything to do with performance but cells that that convert the energy from food or generating most of the ATP (the source of energy for use and storage at the cellular level) in the cells?

Why would buying a bird matter what the pedigree says... if you plan to develop a line from this bird, if possible, who cares what the background is. if it produces then I will be able to accomplish my goal, and if it can't produce it's a cull anyway. Many guys don't keep breeders and simply stock them and use them and then refly them.

I'll definitely ask this question on a follow up visit at his place and you will be answered

From my understanding is that you will need a pedigree to understand what kind of birds are you working with and what they flaws are to avoid breeding away from that 🤷🏿♂️

@@Roller_Pigeon_fancier well I am in the USA and breeding some South African imported birds. I don't breed for excessive depth but you need excessive depth to make excessive depth. My old saying is "Like breeds Like". It takes a unique mix to develop specific traits and if you want 5 second birds and don't have any it will take time to develop them. I think you can manipulate the pigeons to increase depth with feed and flying more frequently.
@Roller_Pigeon_fancier2 жыл бұрын
From my experience I've found what you are saying true... Feed and flying frequent is what controls them to perform well... But resting them is also important for them to produce you great results
