I wondered about the ground issue. I’ve just run a ground from the block to the subframe

That’s what I initially did but kept fighting a miss. Once I grounded both aluminum heads directly to battery ground, issue resolved.

I have only 1 head grounded, going to take your advice and add another!

Cool, it will work and same you a lot of frustration 👍🏻

Right you are. Long term, bonding the heads can also help shunt starting current away from water passages. I had on old TM1 manifold [in service probably 25 years is my guess] where the passenger side water port had become barely installable per gasket footprint, but drivers side was fine. Guess which side the starter was on... and the alternator bracket, and battery return. And that was from composite days. Does an MLS gasket coating have high resistance with new/clean water in the block? I haven't tested that, but it probably does - lightning is its own animal and does weird things.

So true, the MLS gaskets are an interruption in the grounding effect, I’m not sure how a copper gasket may work as I’ve never ran an O-ringed setup. It’s always good to battery ground the head.

Recently found your channel. Great videos. You have a vacuum pump -is it belt driven or electric driven?

Thanks for subscribing T&K. The V pump is cog belt driven.

@@ronthepoolstudent another question…(we have big block, switched to running alky carb, but no V pump..looking to have one installed over the winter) what brand V pump do you have?
