I’ve had a few testimonial clients that were super happy I reached out to them, which is a good sign. But when it comes to pitching services for paid projects it’s tough to feel confident that I’m gonna be able to deliver them value that’s worth the money. Do you recommend starting off with smaller clients at lower rates so you can get used to the whole process of delivering content?

What I teach most of my students is to get some free work/low budget work. Do an incredible job. Ask for testimonials. And then rapidly increase your rates.

@@ChrisPieta It's tough doing your best when you're not making any money off a project, but even with one testimonial people are way more receptive. So there's definitely some value there, even if it's not monetary. Got 3 more people lined up from just sending DMs, they were kinda warm already though

Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your really helpful videos. 🙂 One question to this topic: Is it allowed to shoot a product from a brand (for example a beer bottle I bought) at home, as a free project and use the final productphotos and videos on my website and social media without asking the brand if I can use the photos and videos? So at the end it looks like the brand is a client of mine, but it's not real? how do I behave in this situation? Do I need a permit from the brand?

I'd have a header for "Portfolio" and one for "Case studies" or "Client work" that represents just clients.

Hi Chris, thank you for the content I've found it incredibly helpful! I have a question about finding your niche...so I assume Product Photography is still to broad to be considered a niche. I currently have a lot of pictures of Jewelry but felt like I had to photograph other products (soaps, perfumes, mugs etc.) to build a portfolio because Jewelry would be too specific of a niche. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

If you're just starting out with zero 0-3 clients product photography clients, jewelry is perfect.

I learned : have a niche , portfolios for the client not for you , and if you really want to know the answer , you have to join up program 😂 smh
