There could be flying monkeys everywhere and you might not even be aware who is who isn’t doing any recon on you on behalf of the narcissist hence why it goes without saying that these ppl must go from your life; too. Tough to say or do, but this is where we are and this is how it must be. I just say hi to my neighbors at most in order to be civil and kind- not to appease anybody, but I show kindness to others whenever I can do so, but I can’t trust them 100%- heck I cannot even trust anybody 100% anymore.

After eight years apart, when I choose to not be where my abuser is ( grandchildren’s birthdays, funeral visitations of loved ones, etc. - I attend at other times when I’m sure he won’t be there) I am portrayed to his friends and family as though I am being unreasonable, bitter, unforgiving, spiteful- the list goes on…and he just doesn’t “ understand why I’m acting that way”. I have to just stay silent and listen to the criticism because anything I would say would look like I’m engaging again.

My ex narc was having a field day repeatedly devaluing and discarding me, while I engaged in some covert dirt doing myself under the guise of submission. The entire relationship shifted over the span of about 3-6 months and when I finally realized it wasn’t going anywhere I applied for job in a new city and actually got it. I learned of this a month before but waited until about 5 days before it was time to go before breaking the news. The energy shifted. I actually fell in love again just before leaving but the narc never saw it coming. That’s the thing about your enemies, narcissists specifically. Their delusions of grandeur actually blinds them to the actions of smart victims. My narc did everything to push me out the door but I knew my ex was secretly jealous because as I was leaving they ended up with theirs; 2 losers plotted to see my downfall and my life is a literal upgrade to theirs 😂😂😂

I have been doing better at being silent but it's hard. I got tired of defending myself and explaining myself. The narc is always trying to get a reaction out of me so they can say I'm out of control. I have endured a lot of verbal abuse. I have to walk on eggshells and the narc always has negative things to say about me to me and others. Ive added fuel to the fire in the past but I'm no longer going to give away my energy. Amazing woods you are in! You've been a part of me quitting my 25y long marriage with a psycho. Thank you! She went to church every week and had 15 different men besides me. But worse was the controlling, dismissive, going to sleep when I wanted to talk, catastrophies emerging out of nowhere when I wanted to talk or I caught her doing something. Now she wants to find our relationship again before God, she said, I kid you not. Going silent is really hard, really hard for the anxious type. But I feel my body, my organism needs it. I am studying psychology now at the best University of the world, started right away 4y ago when I found out our relationship dynamic. I will do so good in the future I know hard work pays off and lazy, fat, chip-gobbling narcisissts will falter, get sick and eventually die alone. I'm still in a tight stop unfortunatelz, moved to my narc mum and it is very straining but silence helps. It is astonishing the level of attention the narc demands, now I see what I have been put through as a child, the amount of emotional abuse is abhorrent. It is a wonder to behold that I made it so far. Keep growing! Namaste.

Andrew, I can't even believe it! You are so right when you say that once you see it, you can't unsee it! Like my cousin had been married to a malignant (yes! Ma lig nant!) narcissist for 10 years!!!! She only recently got the divorce. All the while, we were both SO UNEDUCATED on narcissism because again, like you always say (we weren't taught this in school) that we were so confused about his behavior. He would be abusive to her for no reason and then randomly apologize and wash rinse repeat the same actions. The cheating was nonstop! It's only now after she has gone, and I joined the community that I can now educate her on what she had gone through. The narcissist stressed her out so much that she lost a baby and developed a hernia and excasabated hypertension because of it. The Narc 5ook a great toll on her health. She has since slowed her life down and is regaining her peace, but needless to say nw she has major trust issues. 😮😢 smh

Before the relationship I always believed that everyone had the right to their own opinion. During the relationship it got to the point where having an opinion was actually dangerous to my health, it could lead to days of abuse..Silence post relationship can be deafening but I'd rather say nothing by choice and save my thoughts for someone that is capable of reciprocity or at least someone that sees you as an equal... What I wish my mother would‘ve done with my narcissistic father is to communicate with him at the bare minimum. You unfortunately are not going to be able to co-parent with them. Use the app that the lawyers often suggest people use (everything is documented) and only communicate about schedules and that type of stuff. That’s it. There is no winning with them. I've been running into my narcissist ex gf at the gym a lot lately. I go on my way home from work cause it's 40 minutes one way from my house. As I was walking up to the door, she came from in between cars, cut me off, and literally walked 5 feet ahead of me, then intentionally let the door slam in my face. Her car was already parked when I got there and I waited in mine for a few minutes, so the fact she ended up walking in at the exact time I did, no way was it just a coincidence. I'm moving on, but she makes it so difficult. She's always around in one form or another. She knows my schedule and chooses to use the gym the same time I do, when she lives 4 minutes from it. It's hard.
