KZbin for creators is some serious fun. Being consistent is not a joke.

You have to mix it up. Doing edited videos takes me 3 hours to do a 8 min video. So I do lots of shorts and community tab stuff. Also going live!! No one talks about going live gets you tons of views

Every time when learning something new it's always hard. At the end of the day, you're the only one who can decide why you're doing it. KZbin is a business to me.
@KevinChee6 сағат бұрын
I agree. I think channels need to take responsibility for their own action of 'fun'. If it is fun, don't expect much views, just upload because you wanna have fun. If you want the algorithm to understand you then you'll need to be strategic with your content. I feel many don't understand it still.
@VisitLiveLoveMauiКүн бұрын
Saying it as it is. Hard truth. Managing a YT channel is not “fun” - I enclosed that in quotation because it can be fun in a way but if we really want our YT to be a successful we have to do the hard work. You very well explained this in this video.
@KevinChee7 сағат бұрын
Yup.. you can keep it fun just don't expect much success out of it.

KZbin is fun until the video you put time, care, and effort into doesn’t get no views, in my opinion.

tell me about it!! 😔 im working hard to grow another channel, which takes an awful lot of work. some videos have had 500views but the video today: 0... a big zero!!!😢

@ Same here, now any video I upload I fear mag be a 50/50, it does fails or succeed.

That's when you change something, usually the title and/or description
@KevinChee6 сағат бұрын
Well, that's what I mean. You can make KZbin fun if you do not care about not getting anything out of the effort and time you put in. You'll need to take it seriously if you do care about getting views.

I like to play your videos in the background while I'm editing my own youtube videos haha. I feel half-guilty for not subscribing yet, but it's interesting that the YT algorithm never fails to show your new uploads on my homepage

.I have 2 channels and yes i have one channel that is just fun. I go live and not making recorded videos and its social interaction so yes youtube can be an outlet for some and not a way to make money or grow. I grew an audience that way. My new channel is a real youtube channel and its like a job and strategic. I post everyday on this channel. It depends. I love editing and art. I'm a creative so it's less of a chore for those who aren't creative. I find your channel fascinating and honest!
@KevinChee6 сағат бұрын
Yup, that's a good strategy. One is aimed towards feeding the algorithm, another just for your own sake and expecting nothing out of it. I might consider one myself. Thanks for the tip.

Yes sir, let's just say the reality has sunk in for me. But I am hanging in there and still learning.
@KevinChee7 сағат бұрын
Yup.. having to think about what your audience wants, what style gives best retention, being careful with what we say, they are all not fun to me. If you just wanna say whatever you want, record whatever video style you want because you wanna have fun then great, just don't expect videos like that to gain much traction

@ I’ve learned this lesson the hard way over the years. I’ve come to realize that polarizing opinions benefit no one. I’d rather be a source of inspiration and hope than division and cruelty.
@MutantProductionsКүн бұрын
Hey hey All good and valid points but I’m not certain about “consistency”. I know you’re not the only one who says this. In fact I think most, if not all “KZbin advisers” do. But just take my own channel as an example: I’ve been publishing consistently for years. Like over 5 IIRC. Every Monday without fail (unless something happened in which case the vid got delayed for a few days, but still within the week and my audience was advised of this so they weren’t left hanging). Many times I would also produce other smaller vids to release during the week. Well, at 1.2k subs, with the overwhelming majority of my subscribers not watching my work, I’d say consistency has failed for me.
@KevinChee7 сағат бұрын
I think I've explained my meaning of consistency before, just didn't want to repeat myself here. Consistency is not just in posting regularly but also using each posting to experiment new topics, niche, styles and take a bit of risks. Posting the same video weekly won't cut it, it needs to try something different even if just a little. For me personally, I've been testing different topics and titles. Videos like this with me just talking tends to work well, better than tutorials I would say, so I stick with it.

@@KevinChee Apologies if I wasn't clear: I do also mix it up a bit, trying different things, and whatnot. Ain't working for me lol. But hey, that's life... :) I myself do prefer your vids when you chat as you do here. :D

I agree, I do find alot of fun in lerning this youtube, it has been a tough learning experience for an old guy with many learning disabilities and I still manage to find fun in the learning. The boost I get when a video or a short does better then I anticipated. I laugh, this is harder then my bread and butter job that I make money at. My ompany has told me I am not allowed to make videos in the shop oh well. Kevin keep up the good work man you are awesome at youtube
@KevinChee6 сағат бұрын
That's a good point. Some people do find fun in learning, I forgot about that. I guess the ones I am referring to in this video are mostly the ones who just want to create whatever they want to create without thinking much and still expect the algorithm to please them. Then they complain the algorithm isn't fair. It just doesn't work that way and it has come to the point where it feels to me like an excuse from these channels.

Another great video. So many people think that it’s so easy to be successful on the platform
@KevinChee6 сағат бұрын
Thanks. I think many still don't understand what I am saying here. It is hard to explain. I guess to me it is simple, if I want to have fun then I don't expect the algorithm to help me. If I want to take this seriously, I will create content based on the algorithm's needs. Different for each niche so experimenting is a must, which again, is not fun when you're trying to figure out something. I don't know, I find many fall into the 'fun' category as a means to escape reality.

I see to a degree where he's coming from and he makes a few good points. But if you're not gonna have fun with it you might as well not even do it.

@yogadaily9864 Exactly. If it's not fun. I'm not going to do it. That's why I started in the first place with a hobby I enjoy.
@KevinChee6 сағат бұрын
Fun is subjective. Creating videos for the sake of algorithm is not fun, it limits what I want to do. Creating videos for yourself because it is fun, sure, that works, but don't complain about the algorithm not favouring you. You'll understand once you pour in more hours into the channel.
@Rufio19756 сағат бұрын
@@KevinChee But either way still involves the algorithm. I never do it Just for the algorithm. I've been doing it now for a year and a half on my channel. I understand the work it takes sir. But if I get to the point where it's just for that,I'm not going to do it. I do it because I like it and maybe help some people and or entertain them. If the video doesn't do good, bummer. Oh well. Doing it just for the algorithm is a mistake
@yogadaily986418 сағат бұрын
I don't get it. lol. If it's fun you will want to make videos MOST of the time. I completely disagree that "fun is unpredictable." Fun is what keeps you going actually. Fun is what fuels your passion and passion is what makes your channel grow. Yes it is good to have goals but youtube is so unpredictable no one can predict when they will reach 50k or 100k subscribers. I think you need to listen to the FUN song that Spongebob sang again. F is for friends who do stuff together. U is for you and me. N is for anywhere and anytime at all down here in the deep blue sea. Lolz. Your soul is jaded man.
