This was pretty eye opening for the comparison, especially when you think about the fact that Zion's game is much more well rounded than Randle's and the fact that he's more explosive, if he gets the same sort of looks, he's going to be eating defenses alive, especially with Lonzo feeding him the ball. If that Pelicans team gets some good shooters, they'll be in for a pretty quick rebuild.

Oh yea and averages 26 12 and 4 for his career.... at 26. I think it’s unlikely that Zion becomes that just because THAT is so rare.
@jcw0345 жыл бұрын
The one thing I didnt like about this video is I don't think you spent enough time on how his teammates can help his game. Lonzo and Jrue in particular in transition or halfcourt will get Zion off ball where his athletic frame can best be used to make athletic plays. Yes you touched on it a little but I would have loved to have seen how he would function with those 2 and BI both in halfcourt and transition. Also you didn't speak much on his defense. Would have loved some insight on how you think his defense will hold up against the very best the league has to offer.
@Sebadiah235 жыл бұрын
J-Strokes Like David Griffin did in his press conference, he used Jrue as the example just for brevity sake- sure it will most often be Jrue, but it could be Ball, Ingram, or even Elf. We don’t know the full roster yet.

I honestly don't understand why all the analysts are having a difficult time finding a comparison for Zion, to me he is Blake 2.0 but he has the benefit of seeing what he needs to work on to fit in the league, I can see him being a superstar right out of the gate but injuries and stagnation are a real worry
@Sebadiah235 жыл бұрын
Blake has averaged .9 steals and .5 blocks for his career, which is pathetic for such a great athlete, and didn’t even start taking perimeter shots until year 7/8. Part of this is because Blake is three inches taller. They really aren’t too too similar.
@vicshephard92315 жыл бұрын
Try Larry Johnson from UNLV.
@Sebadiah235 жыл бұрын
Vic Shephard I can only think of Barkley in regards to that extreme motor for somebody that size. Larry Johnson was skilled, effective, strong, yeah, similar stats, but didn’t explode like the other two. Charles is 26th all-time in steals, and would do the Zion “steal and rumbling dunk” thing on the regular.
@GregS-19815 жыл бұрын
Zion is an elite leaper and very explosive in short area but he is kinda slow as a runner. I definitely think he needs to trim some baby fat. He could stand to lose 15-25 lbs. I think ge would be much faster if he dropped some of that excess weight. His handle just doesnt look like its gonna be effective in the NBA. He stares at the ball when dribbling. He doesn't look natural pusding the ball like a Ben Simmons or Giannis. Both of those guys are much taller and much faster in the open court.

The only way this Pelicans team will make their fans forget AD is if they can keep this young core together, with little tweaks, for five years or more AND if (this is a big if) Zion can remain healthy. I’m not sold in Zion being so awesome (he hasn’t faced players who have more skills, brains and size) but he is a solid player. He will grow and he is already a big boy so if he grows more he will be straining his legs, knees and ankles. I’m not sure they can hold up.

As soon as I heard of the trade, I said it sounds like there could be a big 3 in Orleans in a couple of years. But let's be real, all these players will need a lot of development. As Zion stands now, he will be great in the regular season, but as soon as the post season hits and teams stop taking defense off, he won't be nearly as effective, ask Giannis and Simmons about that reality.

@@dhartley98 the media, especially ESPN, spent this entire 2018-19 season talking about Zion all the time, hyping him up, thousands of people purchased season tickets for the Pelicans because of him. I don't think any kind of management can stop the people talking about him, whether it's positive or not. And media shapes the narrative. In the eye of the media you can be star in one moment and an absolute bust in the next. He's like 18 or 19, he doesn't need all these.

@@csilla3085 What he's saying is it doesn't matter what the media says or not. The front office and players around him is who he will be leaning on. This front office won't stop the ying yang outside the building but they can control what's going inside the building. He needs to do like every player should and that's to learn and be a student for now and I think David Griffin and company will make sure of that.

That's how the NBA does business. There was a time when they would single out a player and call that guy the next Jordan. Zion's not the first.

Come on, Coach Nick. How will you let Zion and Randle combine well since they all need balls and not really good at off ball cutting ? Plus, how confident you are about the issues of Ingram's recovery and chemistry between Holiday and Ball? Don't get too excited, Coach.

Hey there Coach, great video. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy, I was wondering if his height difference compared to Randle would impact him badly, or does his other skills and athleticism make up for it?
@jasongerber69725 жыл бұрын
Gamez well I'm not him but the height difference is basically made up by his much higher vertical and length. He's always bouncing around so he plays way bigger and taller than he is

Not really. He had the most hype but he's not the only one to live up to a lot of hype. Kevin Garnett was also on the cover of Sports Illustrated in high school & he also got drafted outta high school. He was picked 5th as a high schooler. And, he's more than lived up to the hype. Same with Kobe, Shaq, KD, AD, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, MJ, Duncan.

I agree with LaVar Ball, he said that Lakers will NEVER win a championship ever again! LA traded all their young players with basketball talents, AD gonna retire soon... LeBron old... Lance also a veteran... man i’m so proud as a Pels Fan, having Young players to play in our team, unlike the Lakers...
