We made the switch from the Morryde to the Glowstep a couple years ago for the same reasons you mentioned and have been very happy that we did.

We definitely love them. Only complaint from my girlfriend is how heavy they are. Of course we have the biggest size they make with the most amount of steps. Otherwise we have raved about them so many times on so many scenarios that the moryde would have just plain failed at

We had the Morryde steps for a long while and switched to the Glowstep Revolution about 1.5 years ago and are very happy with them so far. We have camped in roughly 45 different spots and stopped at numerous rest areas and no more "Oh darn I can't shut the door" moments LOL!!! I just wish they would come out with a nice handrail system.

Have you seen the Morryde telescoping handrail? I have not used it but a lot of people have a lot videos and reviews on it. Here’s a link I found for it. tweetys.com/morryde-sp56-469-entry-step-hand-rail-telescopic-42-1-2-length.aspx?hsa_ver=3&hsa_kw=&hsa_cam=17058388696&hsa_acc=1425045090&hsa_tgt=&hsa_ad=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_grp=&hsa_src=x&hsa_mt=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAt66eBhCnARIsAKf3ZNET4q6_ZFPywx2noHi69Mp-g0wT_kZhk2mBTCWXqYIQL0XP7FOpKfUaAmEhEALw_wcB

Just got these to replace my Moryde step above on my 5th wheel. The step above were too long so unless you have perfect conditions, even with the extenders fully retracted I could not close my door like in a rest area. Also in a campground with a cement patio would have to angle the 5th wheel so as the steps were away from the cement and often had to dig down in the dirt to get enough to close door. And my box was a disaster too when it came.

Oh geeez. Ya I could be happier with these steps. So much more versatile and extremely stable

I think Torklift, Morryde and Lippert need to provide better packaging for their heavy products. My Morryde step box was mangled, but there was little damage. There shouldn’t have been any, but it took so long to get my order from eTrailer that I didn’t want to refuse the delivery and wait another two months. Maybe some high density foam or something to protect UPS employees that don’t seem to care about what they’re delivering. FYI, several months ago I ordered a Morryde full Passthrough storage bin from eTrailer and after three months, it was apparently lost in shipping through UPS Freight. Very frustrating. Great video. Keepm coming.

Ya I agree. So many companies don’t package products properly. Very unfortunate. I was surprised it came in with no damage. Definitely love the steps though.

My brother-in-law and I were just talking about these steps. I had the Morryde steps on our last RV and loved how solid they felt. We downsized to a smaller 5th wheel and are back to the fold out steps and hate how much flex they have. I’m seriously considering upgrading to Torklift soon.
@WhyNotRV

It’s the perfect balance of the 2. Obviously not as solid as the moryde but WAAAAAY more solid that the standard pull out style

Great review. I don't know if you can answer this question but here goes. With Torklift steps mounted outside under the door in midwestern cold and rain how stiff will the steps become to extend and will users need to resort to frequent lubing to keep them free moving.
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 9 ай бұрын
That’s. Good question. I’ve had them in freezing temps but haven’t particularly noticed any real difference in them.

I like MORryde way more, personally. We have had both, and the Torklift are just not as sturdy. I HIGHKY recommend the NEW version though, with the strut assist and no pins
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV Жыл бұрын
It is definitely a personal preference and overall use and need type of thing. I found myself stuck a few times with the morryde because of the clearance needed to open and the ground height needed. The torklift had zero limitations in regards to that but yes of course not as sturdy as solid one steps

Na, I'll take the old ones. Way sturdier
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely sturdier, 1 big solid piece. If you've ever pulled into a rest area and were unable to open your door because the steps would hit the next vehicle over, or parked next to a curb and you can open the door and fold the steps partially out but then cant close the door... it changes your mind real quick. Different camping needs call for different setups. If I was to go from home to a campground and back I would say the solid steps are the easier option and of course more stable. But for full timing and coming across 100 different scenarios, these new steps are way more versatile. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!!

@@WhyNotRV these steps use more space when extended than the Mor-Ryde? How is that better? The Mor-Ryde strut assist is far better
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
I wont argue that one is better than the other. I believe this is definitely a preference based thing. Just like someone liking a Class A and others liking 5th Wheel. The Steps don't necessarily come out further. They're adjustable so they can come out further or they can go in closer and be less of a footprint.
@FlyboyC123

You didn't show how they would solve the problem of less level surface or curb or parked next to something at rest stop in the video. Can they flip all the way down first and then extend at a steep angle down so they're still usable (even if steps not level) if parked next to a 18 wheeler trailer at a rest stop?
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 11 ай бұрын
Yes, sorry I didn’t include that stuff but I even one time pulled off the highway and was super close to a concrete Barrier. I was still able to flip these out and get in the rig where as with the stock ones there’s zero chance I could have gotten in

Great Video, it’s too bad you got it for free. It would have been nice to see and hear results from your own hard earner money and not being paid for the freebie. We are left with no results.

110% I would buy this with my own money. It’s truly an outstanding product. I did the same thing for my airstream now as it’s just so much more versatile

I am always looking ways to reduce the weight of my 5th wheel and would be the main reason for me to change them out. How does the weight of the Torklift compare to the Morryde steps?
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly You Might save a pound or 2 but honestly its pretty similar in weight. It is more the convenience.

Are the stair treads any wider than the Morryde steps?
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 3 ай бұрын
You know I’m not exactly sure down to an inch or two, but I would say no they’re generally about the exact same. These ones might be just a hair wider because of the framing on the sides of the Morryde

Thank you for sharing. How do these steps differ from Morryde steps? I see they would not be as heavy but other than that not sure.
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
They’re way more versatile. I would say similar In weight. But way more useful and have more applications for them. The solid steps are great if you’re setup in one location and never move but if you go from location to location you come across all sorts of weird layouts of ground and what not and these new steps are more useful

@@WhyNotRV Do these steps have any bounce to them, or are that as solid as the Moryde?
@WhyNotRV

No bounce but when fully extended the middle has a little dip to it when you step on it.

@@WhyNotRV Thanks my wife has a balance issue so any movement would be bad as she has fallen off of the old fold up under door style steps that almost ended our RVing life altogether. I will stay with the very steep Moryde step we have, wish they had more angle to them and not so steep, I had to build wooden steps I mount over the Moryde ones to make her life easier.
@WhyNotRV
@WhyNotRV 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s definitely a rough one. I would definitely stick with what is best for her and not chance anything. Glad to hear you’re still RVing and making life work.
