Two handed or not, bowling isn’t an easy sport. The amount of precision you need to have to bowl at this level and bowl well is crazy. The amount of hands on the ball doesn’t make it any easier. The biggest contributor of this is actually the equipment. There are so many options out there and so many different ways to fine tune a bowling ball to fit the lanes perfectly.

Thank you. Someone actually speaking with some sense. ✌️

I personally don't like the two-handed delivery, but also understand that it helps get more people into the sport. It took me years to figure out exactly how to hook the ball properly, and to gain the strength needed to be consistent. Two hands just makes it easier to get that big hook and that satisfying pocket hit which will draw more people to the sport. Putting ten in the pit is beautiful no matter how many fingers or hands are on the ball. Jason Belmonte has really shown that the two handed delivery can be aesthetic and consistent.

The PBA had the Snowman Doubles at Firelake (Shawnee, OK) where it was 55 feet HAND OILED. 2 handed bowlers were at or near the top of the standings. If anything, Mr. Deboy, your idea may result on the contrary. More will go to 2 hands just to get pin action then just throw to the 3 or 2 pin dependent on the side of the lane they throw from.

This 2 handed culture is making the sport look less difficult to discipline, in which it ultimately diminishes the overall competitive nature of the sport. It's like comparing horseshoes to cornhole(there's onehanded bowlers, then there are 2 handed bowlers). It took myself ripping my thumbnail off of the cuticle to realize how to properly roll a ball. It's the same principle idea of rolling the ball instead of "throwing" it. Exaggerated principle of impulsive undisciplined outcomes, that creates a money pit of different styles of bowling equipment to cater to this bipolar preference of a game. Wish they didn't scoot the goalposts so much closer in for the sport, in which I did believe it held the respect to be referred to as a sport rather than the game it has become.
@Coderedpirate2 жыл бұрын
Diminishes the competitive nature of the sport? I’d have to disagree completely. As many who share the same opinion as you, there’s some burning passion that dictates hate toward two handed bowling. Simply put, it’s an evolution in the sport. Bowling started with no holes, and no oil. Eventually two holes were added, then one for the thumb, and oil patterns became an essential part of the sport. And as we’re looking at it now, people have slowly started shifting from using one hand, to two hands, but in this case it’s far less detrimental having to pick between the two. Looking at the line up of current PBA pros, one handlers and two handlers have a more or less equal playing field. With people like Belmonte, simonsen, and svenson leading the two handed scene, there’s still competition from players like Prather, buturff, and honestly the rest of the league that chooses to play one handed. To put it in perspective, basketball had granny shots that never evolved, and baseball had wooden bats that did evolve. Sports are ever changing with new improvements and innovations, you can’t expect a sport to stay relevant and interesting by staying stagnant forever
@JTConlon4072 жыл бұрын
@@Coderedpirate start a 2 handers division honestly. By chance, do you notice the amount of women who bowl 2 handed compared to men? Quite fascinating. When your a child I can see how you would have difficulty having the proper balance being adolescent. Eventually I took the training wheels off my bicycle. It's much more sufficient to teach yourself with patience rather than find other shortcuts in order for the game to pander to 2 handers. They keep the sport going to a sense but it's taken less seriously from a broader perspective. 2 handers did not help the sport grow, it indicates that the pba is on life support and needs to sell equipment. Ebonite was the #1 brand in bowling when the league was in its hayday. They already went bankrupt and are no where near that. Bowling manufacturers are desperate to sell equipment. It's politics and you know it. People just didn't decide to bowl 2 hands when the game was at its peak, don't fool yourself. 2007 was an all time low, the 1990s had the worst decline in usbc sanctioned league bowlers. They needed this international gimic of a belmonte to welcome more players to the sport on a broader level.
@Coderedpirate2 жыл бұрын
@@JTConlon407 is it more sufficient to teach yourself with patience rather than finding short cuts? The option to bowl two handed was always there since the beginning, but no one ever took advantage of it, or even figured it was allowed. Simply put, work smarter, not harder. Despite bowling not being nearly as popular as it was 30-40 years ago, I'd argue two handed had little to nothing to do with that. As it rose with one handed players, it also fell with one handed players. 2 handed players didn't help the sport grow, but the same could be said with one handers right now. It's not a matter of how the sport is played, it's just the failure of it's ability to keep up with the current situation of sports and television. It wasn't like the 60s and 70s when you only had access to 3-4 channels and was guaranteed a 3:30-5:00 time slot every Saturday for bowling. 2 handed isn't a gimic, it's a way of playing the game, and a successful one at that. If players like Belmonte aren't enough proof to solidify the prowess of playing two handed, then I don't know what else to say.
