The Defying Gravity moment punched me in the gut. It was stunning. Cynthia’s voice was top tier and the visuals were like a crazy rollercoaster ride. The score made it feel like old school Hollywood. It exceeded my expectations.

I think it's safe to say that the Oscar voter turnout was the same as Oppenheimer and there hasn't been a film this good since that film. Oscar voters are probably betting on this to win Best picture now. If the standing ovation is any indication, we could see this take home 13 come Oscar night.

I'm 33, my mother has watched The Wizard of Oz since she was a little girl. She was obsessed. Loved it to the ends of the earth kind of love for that film. Going with her to see this, me being a massive Wicked fan, and she having not a singular clue about the story, and watching her have revelation after revelation until she couldn't actually speak at the end because she couldn't stop crying over how amazing it was, and how amazing it was that Oz was the gift that kept on giving for her... It's priceless. If you're a fan, watch it. You won't regret it.

Cynthia and this scene left me absolutely speechless... The sadness, the triumph, a full dynamism of emotions propelled by the reprise. After seeing Wicked (my first musical) as a kid on West End, hearing the music over the years, and going on a 140 min journey up to this point in the film - this scene was a truly special culmination for me. So special.

Saw it today.. Wow what a film and what a finale. Got so emotional at the end. There's just something about the song defying gravity that makes me so emotional. It was amazing. Both leads were fantastic 😍 can't wait for part 2 😁💚💜

I watched the movie with a healthy level of skepticism. I was not prepared for how good it was. It excelled in every way and was one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema I have seen.
@AntsTheaterCorner26984 күн бұрын
Jon Chu was telling everyone that they weren't prepared for this film, we didn't know what he meant until we saw it for ourselves. 97% audience score sure says a lot and it's higher than any film this year. The filmmaking is also perfect and I love it so much that I'm going for the second third, fourth 5th and sixth time and then the sing-along. I loved it so much that it made me cry. Just thinking about it.

The movie is fantastic. Everyone brings their A game including Ariana but Cynthia Erivo and the ending was breathtaking. One of the best movies this year, if not the best. Cynthia Erivo deserves an Oscar.
@AntsTheaterCorner26984 күн бұрын
There's no doubt she's going to win an Oscar, she may not be the front runner, but she's incredible. It's safe to say that Oscar voters giving this film a standing ovation just like Oppenheimer has cemented its front-runner status. It's definitely on the spot to win Best picture now. I can see Cynthia Erivo take the best actress. Oscar, simply based on the power of her performance alone. There's a lot of competition in that field, but the standing ovation is helping with that.

I wonder if they are going to get elphaba to say the iconic final words of the original wicked witch of the West from the original wizard of Oz movie. That would be so iconic and very clever.

I have seen Wizard of Oz, but I don't remember that much, and the Oz the great and powerful. The first film from 1939 always has a special place in my heart. Yesterday, I have already watched the movie with my mom, and I was wearing my wicked shirt to support the film. The movie was out of this world.!. Because it talks so much about how society works and how hiding away our character. The moment for me was the defying gravity. Cynthia Erivo did an amazing job delivering it, and that is my go-to song. she deserves an award, and everyone else did an amazing job, too. 💚 💖.

Wicked cracked me wide open. The vocals hit like they were stitched directly into my soul, the costumes and sets were so rich I could taste the magic. You can feel the love and devotion that went into every detail-it’s impossible not to. . I’ve known I was broken for a while, but this movie did something I didn’t think was possible: it found a piece of me and whispered, “You’re still here.” I never expected to walk out of a theater feeling more whole, but here we are 🧹💚🎀🫧

I saw it with my mother who has never seen the stage play, whereas I have seen it 3 times. It was beautiful to see her first experience with Wicked. She adored it and was as wowed as I was when I first saw it on broadway. If you love musicals this is an absolute masterpiece.

Same. I just saw Wicked this afternoon with my cousin, & as a fan of the stageshow I loved every moment of it. One of the most visually stunning movies i've ever seen, & the cast were amazing (really hope Cynthia Arivo & Ariana Grande get Oscar nominations for their performances in this, they were both incredible). Definitely one of the best movie adaptations of a stage musical I've ever seen.

In my opinion, this was better than the entirety of the stage musical. So much that they did with filmmaking that cannot be replicated well on stage. The tributes to the original cast were great, but it was a nice passing of the torch moment. I've never felt this emotional during a musical, this film blew me away in ways that I never felt possible. It's the best film of the year for me and an absolute masterpiece indeed.

Spoiler alert: Truly prolific - demonizing and blaming those different from the rich protected classes The manipulation and gaslighting by the people in charge at school and in the government. Taking away the ability for “animals” to talk in cages.The best part, is when Elphaba sees her younger self which stabilizes her before she soar. Which is so similar to the original “You had the power within you all along”. So good.

The ending is amazing! You'll get the full chills! The whole movie, however, was way too long with lots of scenes that could have been cut. It's 2 hours and 40 minutes. 2 hours would have been enough, particularly since there's a part 2.
