Hey guys! This one was incredibly tough on copyright because it's a musical. It is choppy in spots do to all the copyright editing. Our editors did a good job getting it to finally pass the copyright checks because of the nature of the film with all the songs and background music made it very tough.

The musical was based on the book and the film was based on the musical. This film blew me away. Also, the 2 women in Oz who were featured were the 2 original Broadway actresses who portrayed Elphaba and Glinda 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾☺️😎

I saw it several times and only put it together on the like the 4th time, because it seems kind of out of character for Elpheba to have "flair" like that, but yeah you're right, that was her own version of "toss toss" that Glinda taught her.

I know this is just a movie but don't see it as just a movie but a reflection of the now. A lot of people are living in Oz and I don't think they realize that the trick is them and that has an impact of everyone else and it's sad. The world is changing and not for the better. I am not American but it is going affect everyone not for the better. I thought the movie was a lot of fun and melancholy, I can't wait to see the next movie because we are going to need the distraction from the chaos that is coming. There is always a dawn but the chaos is the darkness and it's not going to be pretty and I hope that the part 2 will be awesome because we are all going to need it.

I don't see anybody mention this...but, I love how Elphaba instinctively built a wall of protection around her and Nessa when she lost control.

It’d definitely be interesting seeing The Wizard of Oz with a different lense. Glinda taking shoes that would’ve rightfully belonged to Elphaba definitely started something.
@robburns417614 күн бұрын
Elphaba comes from the phonetic pronunciation of L. F. B. - L. Frank Baum. When Elphaba runs outside during The Wizard and I, she startles blue birds which fly over the rainbow in the background. Elphaba's wicked witch hat is a mirror image of the tornado. Lots of foreshadowing if you look and listen; e.g. Boq's surname is revealed to be Woodsman.

So, there are the original Oz books that inspired the The Wizard of Oz movie and even that movie changed things. In those books, you explore much, much more of Oz, there's a land of porcelain people, etc. and in those books there are 4 witches, North and South are good witches and East and West are bad witches. And then there are the newer books which the author said was inspired by one line in the Wizard of Oz film where the Wicked Witch of the West tells Glinda "I should have known" (that she was involved), and made him wonder what the history between the two witches was, and those are very loosely based on the original world but are a complete retelling and get quite dark. The musical is based loosely on the first book in that series but is very, very different. So all of the books and all of the movies and all of the stage shows are all just very loose adaptations and complete departures of each other, it's kind of wild lol.

No really good reason to read Wicked-it is very different, although the subversion of the old Wizard of Oz is from that. The two ladies in fancy gowns for Wizomania are Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith-original Elphie and Glinda from Broadway. The woman saying, “He must be a Wizard,” is Winnie Holman-writer of the play and screenplay. The guy saying, “The Wizard will see you now!” is Stephen Schwartz who wrote the music and lyrics.

The book is worth reading, and so is the rest of the series. However, they are dark political stories that are starkly different in tone and content from the play/movie. They are very well written, it's just not a series for everyone. That said, I feel really bad for everyone who picked them up after seeing the play/movie. It's likely a nasty shock given how adult the books are.

This film is definitely ozmazing and deserves all the Ozcars! I will never forget my first experience of seeing the musical and seeing all the beautiful sets and the costume designs, as well as the amazing talented cast. I really connected with Elphaba, so I was so hyped to see this iconic story come to the screen! Ironically the first musical I ever performed was the Wizard of Oz where I played Professor Marvel and the Wizard. And I even got the chance to perform the show again and share the stage with my nephew. I can’t wait to see the conclusion in Wicked: For Good. There’s a novel with its own saga the musical and the film is based on; it’s however different, darker, and more mature. Fun fact: the tune to “Unlimited” is the same as to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Elphaba is a play on the name L Frank Baum the author of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel. 👸🏼🪄🫧💖🖤💚✨🧹🧙🏿♀️
