Ariana did such a great a job in the movie that when the movie starts you say "That's Ariana" but by the end all you can think when you see her is THAT'S GLINDA.

I kid you not this was my EXACT thought process I love Ariana and so ofc on instinct when I saw her on screen I lost it But as the movie progressed I'd have to remind myself like man this is all being played by actors and then I'd remind myself man that's Ariana Grande. There were so many times I had to remind myself that the cast weren't REALLY these characters with how much they delved into their roles because goodness everyone's acting was so amazing and ofc Ariana Idk if I've explained myself right but you really did put my entire thought process into exact words while I was watching the movie

@ I’ve listened to both soundtracks. I love all their voices, but I actually think Cynthia and Ariana’s blend together better. When they sing together it almost sounds like one voice, despite having very strong and distinct voices on their own. That’s not to say they are better singers than Idina and Kristen though. Just that God / the universe / fate handpicked them to sing together 😄. I was *shocked* to hear in this video that they didn’t do a voice test together before they were selected.

Wow, 1st video that REALLY made me understand why they are so emotional during the interviews... I was severely uncomfortable thinking they were faking it, but now... Seeing all that prep and ridiculous effort they put into it, and the story each one share with wicked, PLUS being able to act with the original cast.. it's literally a dream coming through and i get it

@@akiraqil9902 I thought the role was just handed over to Cynthia for her singing ability and given to Ariana because of her fame. I was shocked when I learned they had to audition. And especially surprised after finding out how grueling the audition was. I can’t imagine the stress they experienced. Well Cynthia got sick. Stress can make you physically ill. They are perfect for the roles. Hope there’s a part 2

I also believe that there’s something different about performing a musical. It’s like a deeper emotional bond. I did one musical in high school, and we spent months prepping, and the last show had even the male actors crying because it was over.

⁠@@XLindsLuvsPinkXoh yeah-the actors are putting their absolute everything into every second they’re on stage/able to be seen on camera. It’s the acting AND singing AND dancing! It also requires more vulnerability from the actors-whether it’s a musical in high school (at mine, rehearsals lasted an entire semester) or broadway/the film….the energy is very different than a play or film from my experience. The way everyone lifts each other up constantly during the creation of a musical is very unique. I was never a lead in the musicals, as my voice wasn’t the greeeeatest lolol-but even compared to playing the leads in a few high school plays/a couple of independent films-def had more fun doing musicals

Ariana said in an interview that she went to audition for Glinda (even wearing pink everything) but to her surprise, they had her audition for both roles. But she was just undeniable made for Glinda. 💖

sooo lovely to see a well put together video of these two with their love for Wicked, their audition process, their performance, and a touch on their emotional interviews without judgement but just stating simple facts and quotes. i’ve disliked all the judgement for them through this process, and wish people would just stop judging so much, and simply enjoy the art and let others be so i really appreciated this video! 💗

Hands off to the Director and the casting directors as well. They did a phenomenal job, sorting through all the talented people to find those that will embody the characters to life. As for the actors and actresses, your efforts and dedication will forever be appreciated and immortalized in the heart of every Wicked/ Wizard of Oz fan. I personally think no one else could’ve performed those roles better. Take a bow!

Arianna is actually a great comedic actress and her singing talent is undeniable. I think this was a perfect casting choice. I didn’t know much about Cynthia but holy cow she is perfect for the roll.

I went into the theater last night expecting it to be totally overblown and not worth the hype but it was so good. I've been recommending it to my family members. How great to have a movie that's a spectacle, yet makes you really FEEL things, and leave you feeling good at the end.

As someone not entirelyfamiliar or an avid Fan of both of the leads, it help me to not have preconcieve notion of both of them. Watching the movie, 5x now, I felt like I was actually watching the musical, the actual characters and not just the singers & actresses themselves. This movie healed the frustrated theater kid in me and I can't wait for Act 2.

imagine being a little girl who dreamed of becoming the pretty fairy she saw in a play as a kid. then went on to become one of the biggest teen stars in nickelodeon and then becoming the popstar Ariana. but then that little dream is still within you. like an inner child. she has probably memorized Wicked and could even play Elphaba, she eventually auditions for Elphaba. she just wanna be part of the cast. but wow, if manifestations are real, this is living proof. She manifested becoming Glinda, and along the way she became Cat, Ariana and now Glinda. the good witch.

I know she can sing, but Ariana's ability to make Galinda her own was the big surprise for me. Having since watched her impersonations of celebrities, I am not surprised she was able to bring a warmth and humor to the role. Cynthia was a revelation. She was able to bring warmth, sadness, hope, and gravity to the role. And she can SING! That final performance of Defying Gravity had my family and I leaving the cinema with goosebumps

I've heard several stories where Ariana says she wanted to be Elphaba ever since she saw Wicked. She even sang "The Wizard and I" for a special televised event. So clearly she wasn't only interested in playing Glinda in Wicked.

Kristin Chenoweth invited her to sing that song, not to perform Elphaba, nor because Ariana wanted to be her. She was always inclined towards Glinda. There's an interview when she was much younger and she says it all. The confusion was among the producers.

@hotram1 she decided she wanted Glinda and in an interview where She is very young, she says so. Later on , in an interview with Zack Sang (?) She said Elphaba, because she wanted whatever. She went even in pink for Glinda, said by her, even though they made her sang other songs.
