The first time I saw this, I was sixteen and seeing my first roadway play on Broadway at Gershwin for my birthday present. I was in the front row, 2007, and Stephanie was performing. I got very emotional during this scene, and she made eye contact with me as she turned away from Kendra to pull the curtain, she saw me and winked, as if to assure me all would be well. I was so moved, I made my mother let me wait outside the stage doors for her to get her autograph, and I was the only one there (it was a wednesday). She immediately gave me the biggest hug and told me she was touched that I had been so moved and told me she was glad to still reach people. I made sure to get her autograph before letting her go home, but her wink that made me a part of Oz that day has pulled me in. Ever since, I've made it a point to go to every new Elphie and watch them perform. Nobody has done what Stephanie did that day, though Oz and its wonders call me back so often that I don't mind anymore. I've worn a familiar pattern into seat B 107 and have nearly bankrupted myself in college getting front row seats so often. I hadn't gotten a chance to see Caroline yet, and I'm thankful she's still performing or my streak would have been broken. During this scene, as she turned from Kara, she saw me wiping tears and nodded. It was slight, almost missed, but I felt like a sixteen year old again, pulled onto stage. I was tired and had almost decided against waiting, but the nod made me stay for her autograph. She came out of the stage doors and after a moment recognized me. She asked me if I was the girl from the front row who'd been crying and I responded that yes, I was. She told me she was glad to have touched a heart and asked if it was my first time as she signed my playbill, as is my tradition. After telling her that, no, it was my twelfth, she immediately asked to sign something else. I handed her the poster I'd gotten out front, as all of the books I get are stored and untouched, and she wrote the sweetest message I've ever read: "*My Name*, It has been an honor to meet such a young and dedicated Ozian and to know I can bring tears to your eyes after all this time. I know, because I've met you, I have been changed for good, and I do believe it;s been for the better. May the magic of the stage be with you forever. -Elphaba" Stage actors/actresses are honestly the sweetest people I've ever met. I'm glad that I'm pulled into the world of Oz again and again every time with this performance (well, this and the No Good Deed beginning portion where Elphie is desperately trying to save Fiyero and she's chanting, then the line where she cries "Fiyero where are you?" brings so much emotion if done right). *Basically, the point of this essay-like comment is that all the Elphie actresses have been the sweetest people I've ever met and it's worth it to meet them*

It's a mysterious thing, the ability to move an audience, or even one person, to emotion. The actresses no doubt felt moved because you "got" it. A similar thing happened with Sophie Evans, I had just been through an operation and was in so much pain, so I dragged my ass to London to see my favorite Elphie and Glinda combo. I was really losing it during For Good (I sang the song to my family in case the worst happened to me.) Tears fludding down my Wicked Tee and Sophie noticed and looked at me with a small smile as if it was a glimmer of hope. Sophie and Rachel gave me huge hugs and they signed my two Wicked Tees and my Programs (I have a Tee with Idina and Kristin, all the Glindas sign 1 and The Elphies sign the other) it was magical

When I was 6 years old a woman came into my life. She married my father. She rescued me in every way. She was a vocal music teacher, and music was our thing. We were te best of friends. Mom lost her battle with cancer 2 years ago. She was 48. I had her for 22 years, and it wasn't nearly long enough. I wish I could say these words to her today. They are so fitting. I miss you, Mom.

This song means so much to me. My best friend Erin and I were both obsessed with Wicked. This was her favorite song. She died last September. At her funeral, my friend Stacy sang it. She was singing Elphaba's part and when she got to the line, "You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart," she lost all control. This song always makes me think of Erin. And how she truly changed me "for good".

The first time I saw this musical was with my best friend. We currently live across the country from each other, but every time any song from this musical comes up on my playlist, especially this one, I cant help but get a little teary eyed and miss her. I'm a senior in high school, and I just left the banquet for my high school speech team. We've all been with our coach since 2003, when we all performed in a production of The Best Christmas Ever. We were all third graders. I've been working with all these people for so long that they've become my family.
