The female protaganist in this drama is truly a good mother, even if its not her own kids. No food, no money, no other emotional or physical support but she keeps working hard to provide for her children to the best of her ability. Her role is truly tear jerking. She os very stressed because of her illness as well. She is irritable because of the stress and anxiety. The ML on the other hand falls short as a father and husband except on a select few occasions. She and the kids are better off without him, he slaved away for his job for nothing

this was a really good version of this story. it felt much more realistic, no crazy drama turns. people are complaining about the lack of focus on the ml but that also feels very realistic. rural men often go other places to work and earn money. and yeah, he was kind of selfish, but he started learning how to work as a team with her towards the end. this wasn't a romance plot but it was very much a relationship plot. they all came together to blend as a family. that's hard to do. we're also talking about a time period when men were not expected to do much other than bring money home.

終於有一套不用看小白臉的劇了！看了多套短劇，相信這是第一套所有演員都是沒化𥺁或化淡𥺁的罷，之前看的男主多化很濃的𥺁，面色蒼白得跟頸項是兩個色彩，還要深深的眼影。拜託，這不是韓流演唱會，演戲的就應反映現實，試問現實中有多少霸總會化一個娘娘的妝容的。 這劇製作很有深度，演員都不選嬌美的，演員都是淡淡的妝容，女的平實不奢華，男的健碩壯健，雖不帥美，但就反映了實在的農村生活，服化道也成，是精良的製作。故事都是誤會加誤會的套路，不過兩小孩真演得好，女主演來也颯爽標悍，男主則稍為木訥，但就很有男子味。整體故事不錯，反映當時情況和人的心態，是不可多得的佳作。

The ML was almost not useful in the family. 😂FL did everything from working, taking care of the children, educating and fighting for them. I love the fact that she is realistic and didn't feign automatic feelings for kids that weren't hers. A very pragmatic FL.

The male lead is just for a namesake. Even in the end it was the fl who saved his business. He is not able to look after his sick mother, did not know who is his wife or care for her, adopted two kids but never paid any sort of attention towards them and dumped every responsibility on the female lead. He wasn’t useful as an emotional support or be the bread winner of the family. They should have shown that he died in the army and all the responsibilities were dumped in the female lead and she successful overcame all the misfortune and lead a happy life with the kids.
