There’s so much to unpack from the list and this conversation but I have a few thoughts. First, Silkk should not have been #1. He’s a C-/ C average at best rapper, not exactly what I would call trash. I’d easily put Master P ahead of Silkk. Master P used try to rap like 2pac and it just never worked. If you put out an album as a solo rapper then you allow yourself to be judged as a rapper; it doesn’t matter if you were a businessman first. Even a “part-time” rapper can get it. This list clearly has bias as BHigh pointed out. Southern rappers have always favored influence over lyricism. Their approach to hip hop compared to other regions have always been different and fans outside the South judge our artists different. I’d easily put Gucci and OJ on the Top influential Artists list because of both of their impact on the culture but even I’d agree that they will always be ranked worse if judged strictly on lyricism.
