the silver shoes is "the same" of the red shoes on wizard of oz movie. In the wicked book the shoe is silver... and the Ruby slippers is trade mark by MGM so they couldn't use it on WICKED

@@geekstrong1also in the original wizard of oz book, they were silver. the only reason the MGM movie chose to go with ruby was that now they could use colour and wanted to take advantage of that, so silver would’ve been boring but ruby really pops on screen :)

In the Wicked Broadway, Nessa Rose father gave her silver slippers in the first act but they turn red slippers in the second act when Elphaba helps her sister Nessa Rose walk with her powers before she dies from a house landing on her from a tornado that Madam Morrible made with her weather powers.

Nessarose is the younger sister of Elphaba, a.k.a. The Wicked Witch of the East who is killed by Dorothy's House. Her Silver Shoes are the equivalent of the Ruby Slippers. In the original book 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum, the shoes are also silver. The shoes are made Ruby Red for the movie 'The Wizard of Oz' to show off the new Technicolor Technology. The Exact Shade of Green that Margaret Hamilton is painted in the 1939 movie and the Ruby Slippers are under copyright by Warner Bros.

You know looking at glinda seeing how she has blonde hair and wears a pink dress she kind of reminds me of princess aurora from the Disney movie sleeping beauty

And in the musical glinda wears blue dresses well seeing how glinda wore a blue dress in the musical and a pink dress in the 2 part movie it reminded me of the argument that flora and merry weather had about what color they wanted to make princess auroras dress and I think the reason glinda wears pink dresses is a homage to Billie Burke when she played glinda in the wizard of oz 85 years ago
