It's surprising that Jack Horner's bakers weren't included in this, one had his skin torn off by a sentient flower, one exploded from a baby unicorn horn, and another got in engulfed by the wishing star's stardust or whatever you call that. It definitely didn't help that some of them knew they were being betrayed by their boss as they were dying.

The Wuxi finger hold doesn’t turn you into petals. If Oogway did apply the Wuxi finger hold to himself he wouldn’t turn into petals. He would go out with a rumble that shakes everything nearby, just like every other time we saw the Wuxi finger applied.

Tai Lung's dead seemed to have a rumble for comedic effect; Oogway's dead didn't have a flash of light for dramatic effect. Because it's animation, sometimes aesthetic choices just happen for their emotional effect on the viewer.
