As a Courtney fan, I have to say her character had a pretty great story. I think the reasoning for her turning so evil is because of Duncan. She loved Duncan so much, that she let love get in the way. Her biggest downfall was love. In season 1, she was pretty nice (e.x. she literally was the only person to help Izzy when she hit her head on the dock, and she was the only one to say nice to meet you all at the beginning). But then, she fell in love with Duncan. This caused her to become more rude and pretty much controlling because it was driving her crazy what she wanted from Duncan. Then, in season 2, she wasn’t even qualified to join back. It made her mad because in the first season she was voted off unfairly, and she had another chance at the million but she didn’t make it to the dock of shame in time. So of course, suing the show was the only option for her to get back on and win the million, and Duncan back. She suspected Duncan was cheating on her with Gwen. This made her even more angry and hostile, so of course she would continue being evil. By season 3, Duncan had eliminated himself then cheated on her with Gwen. This caused her to have a hatred for the two. In all stars, she was already riled up from her boyfriend cheating. But Gwen wanted to be friends with her (though for Gwen’s character that sound very unrealistic, but that’s for later). After becoming friends with Gwen, she fell in love with Scott. Falling in love again somehow made her realize she needed to win. Her being loyal to Gwen went right out the window, and she even tried to get rid of scott too. Only reason she didn’t get away with it was because of Mal. Though, the other would’ve found out sooner.

She didn't start off as a good person, though. She was mostly neutral in S1, sometimes being an asshole but that isn't related to Duncan. She constantly holds her position of "CIT in training" over others and can be quite selfish and narrow-minded. Her traits of being anyhting other than an "i-told-you-so" goody goody is when she gets with Duncan and goes off the hook. She uses her LEGAL TEAM to get an unair advantage over all of the other contestants in Action, and is pretty unhinged in it. World Tour introduces Gwen's final nail in the coffin to her character assassination and Duncan cheats on Courtney with Gwen. Tbh I was pretty happy that it happened: not because I think Gwen x Duncan is great (I don't care for it), but because Duncan and Courtney were a toxic couple and always brought out each other's worst traits. Then Alejandro takes advantage of her deteriorated state, but even then she was irritating because she never really shows much contempt for Duncan, mostly for Gwen, and tries to fuck over her entire team just to get rid of her. All Stars tried to give Gwen and Courtney their friendship back and then snaps it into thin air because Courtney double-crossed Gwen, and Scott x Courtney didn't last very long and was more of a rebound for Duncan and Courtney. Not that all-stars was an amazing season though, so whatever. The point is that Courtney was already somewhat malignant before all of those events, but thqat doesn't stop her form being an enjoyable character; she's simply not a good guy either. The catalyst of the reaction is the cause, but it isn't what happens. Same thing with DUncan being the catalyst for Courtney going awol, but he didn't make her choose to be an asshole.

By the way, my favourite TDI scene is Duncan's story in episode 6, while in TDA it's Courtney's meltdowns in episodes 20 and 21, in TDWT it's the scene in episode 10, where Heather calls Courtney a B-I-T-C- aaand we don't get to hear the H, since it's a kids show, but still I love that scene. Okay, if you scrolled here, stop. I SAID STOP! I warned you... it's a crybaby rant no one cares about Crap, it sucks to seem to know much about people's psychology, but getting dementia when it's time to talk to people irl and not being able to say a word that makes sense.

Im going to be 100% honest. I don’t think Courtney’s character was ruined, it was expanded. Rewatching total drama island made me realize that she isn’t a good person. While she does care about other people she doesn’t give a damn who she hurts to get that million. I loved her in action because it showed exactly what she was willing to do to get the money. I find her character incredibly realistic as well. She legitimately believes she is a good person and is able to rationalize all her horrible decisions which makes her all the more evil

Even if she was slightly more sane in Island ( being friends with Bridgette, sometimes talking to Leshawna about Duncan's soft side, having a crush on Duncan, defending Tyler when he was eliminated ), she was always kind of mean. I liked her in Action too, I just didn't like the whole "bargaining with lifes" fiasco in Dial M for Merger. That was too far. Then in World Tour it's probably my least favorite season from her. Throwing challenges and being the ultimate simp for Alejandro after being THE threat in Action? Big character derailment imo. I liked her in All-Stars until Sundae Muddy Sundae, but the chart was not THAT out of character, even if I didn't like it. But they missed out an opportunity to develop Courtney and making her have a good relationship with Scott and a friendship with Gwen. Sorry for the long ass text by the way. Courtney is my favorite character in all Total Drama so... yeah.

​@@TrustUsWithYourMemeI actually liked her character in world tour. Her throwing challenge actually kind of made sense when you consider how crazy she can sometimes be. And considering how gwen and Duncan situation evolved it was quite in character for her to going crazy and wanted to destroy them. About alejandro - it was nicely explained in the series by alejandro itself that she would be much bigger threat if not the fact that she was emotionally unstable in this moment. He was able to manipulate her because he is great manipulator, she was in bad state of mind, and at first their romance was supposed to be fake, just to make Duncan and heather jelous so it wasn't like she just fell for him like a dumbass. And I also kind of like how she was more crazy and less clean minded in world tour because that showed her in different way and it was the first time when we saw Courtney in this type of position and how she reacted on things like being betrayed (because most of the time she was the one who was betraying prople). Besides that even in action she was showing her hysterical side when Lindsay was playing on her so overall I really appreciate the way how she was handle in all of the first three seasons. The worst was all stars in my opinion because at first it looked like they tried to make her as a better person be creating her relationships with gwen and scott meanwhile later they screw everything up reversing her whole development and turning everyone against her. It was just badly written and anticlimactic

I'm well aware she was emotionally unstable - I guess I'm just a fan of her being a strong competitor over her World Tour portrayal, but now I see the appeal. Thanks for letting me know. I actually liked her in All-Stars until Sundae Muddy Sundae. It had potential to be her redemption arc, being friends with Gwen and dating Scott, showing she can care about people sometimes.... then Sundae Muddy Sundae threw that out of the window. But I don't think ONE in that season episode ruins her whole character, which is why I liked her in All-Stars.

I would Argue Cody is just as gross as Sierra. It was only a problem when he got his treatment of Gwen returned to him. Gwen constantly told him to back off and he still went around bragging about her bra. Waited for her to be dumped to jump on her again, and then assault another person for Gwen not returning his emotions.

He also tricked her into using see through glasses on him which the fact that he has them is unsettling. He also got Tyler to take a picture of him and gwen together on the beach while she was asleep. He did nice things for gwen but honestly it was probably because he simps for her and not that genuine based on his actions
