They did the opposite of what most manufacturers do... they made the screen way too tall. When are companies going to realize how bad bezels look, I think this is why the miyoo mini was so loved.

SNES actually renders the image in 8:7 aspect ratio which is much more close to 1:1 than 4:3. You were running it in forced 4:3 like typical CRTs would do, hence the black borders. Running the game in "pixel perfect" mode would've given you more out of the screen's real estate. Also I know a lot of content creators have mentioned that the Pico 8 on this machine is amazing. Just a shame you didn't show anything regarding it.

As a 4-month already PS Vita owner, I must say that we really need to wait like 4-5 more years to get perfect PSP emulation. PS Vita is the only way to emulate it perfectly for now

Steam deck, or even Nintendo switch, can run ppsspp very well. But they are much more expensive and bigger than this. The bigger problem is the screen here, great for gbc/game gear/neogeo pocket color/pico8, good for SNES (8:7) ok for 4:3 maybe for one screen only DS games, but definitely not ok for 16:9 PSP, or even GBA.

I turned a galaxy s9 into a psp and it works beautifully. Not sure what your talking about. Can use touch screen play on go. When home smart cast to tv and use a blutooth controller as well for a full psp console feel. Ppsspp

5 years ?You're kidding right? Try something like the rg405 or 505 100% speed at 2x resolution on nearly all psps games. I've only found a couple of titles the 505 won't play

just got a win on Temu and got the RGP351p for 40 bucks but I REALLY want this one in particular, that square and boxy style just seems to suit so many of the games I like perfectly, plus way more capable

I have it for about 2 weeks now. I love it! One downside for me is that the glass (or plastic) of the screen is a fingerprint magnet and quite a pain to properly clean. And one thing that would improve the experience dramatically is a touch screen. I found myself many times instinctively trying to touch the menus for selection or confirmation. Plus it would enable 100% the use of the DS games. If the version 2 comes with a touch screen, I'll definitely buy it.

First time I've been tempted to buy anything from powkiddy. Received the unit and at first I was impressed but after just 2 days it would no longer turn on. Discovered it now only works if plugged in to a usb charger. Battery says 100% but unit switches off as soon as you disconnect it and it will not turn on if not on charge. Have left several emails and a video demonstrating problem to Powkiddy but still to hear back from them.... think I will stick with Anbernic in the future. A pity because this device seemed like it had a lot of potential.

I’ve heard the fix is to open it up, unplug the battery wait like a minute and plug it back in. Try it and post your results please.

@@The_Rifster Sorry I should have noted in my original comment. I did try this and made no difference. Left it disconnected for about 10 minutes or so before re-connecting. I was actually thinking about re-opening and trying again but was hoping Powkiddy support may get back in touch with me first.... *checks emails*.... no surprise to see they haven't responded still after 48 hours and after sending a follow up yesterday... thinking their support is not interested if a few buyers end up with paper weights.

As an update Powkiddy support have contacted me and suggested I just download the latest firmware. Which is what their online support also suggested at the weekend. I have done this just to humour them but makes absolutely no difference. I highly suspect this is a hardware/battery fault but they don't seem to want to admit that at the moment.

To make backups of the system card and game cards, just copy-paste? Do I need to take a picture? Because right away, after purchasing, I would like to copy the contents of both cards to the computer as backup copies when the cards from the set break down.

This device accepts up to 4 controllers over bluetooth. I have connected 1 and used the handheld as a controller to play 2 player games on a tv and it works great.

I got one of these also, Would of liked to see them with more memory 1Gb of DDR4 is kind of low, I mean it does work well, but with more memory other newer modern systems could of been possible, For example the Switch CPU is slower than what's in this but the switch does have 4Gb of DDR4 memory.

Your review doesn't do this device justice. This is a "niche" device. This is a GREAT device for 8 & 16 bit era consoles i.e. Gameboy gamegear neo Geo pocket new, SNES.

Device is good but all the retro consoles with plastic case is easily broken and can harm board or cables. I have faced this problem many times. Next time I’ll buy a device with metal case.

I am hoping the Deck 2 is a smaller form factor like that. It sadly isn't gonna have the retro thin screen though sadly. I like the option of PS2 so I am not willing to switch from the Deck to a smaller device just yet.

Of course, they have interesting ideas, both in design and in software, but they remain simply a more accessible analogue of amberniks. the same weak processor year after year, holes in the software, no basic options for many years now. The main changes are only in the design and quality of materials. It's a pity.
