What about the shoulder flames? Fun fact: first time I went on, the shoulder flames were broken and I didnt even know they existed! At least they worked when I got to go on it in the dark!

It does sound a lot like a chain lift, and it has apparently been testing since mid-December

Jack BluePirate 87 it’s construction because the lift hill is magnetic and doesn’t make any sounds, so the local people can’t hear the usually noisy wooden chain lift

that, plus ride operation training, general health and safety training. Then there are things like rider assistance, emergency procedures training....even some mental health training in case a rider freaks out. To be honest, I would love to be a ride operater at alton.

Kingcoconut I assume there will be more fire effects than just on the Wickerman himself. I imagine the Wickerman will have real fire around the shoulders and head. Fake nearer the guests as they go through his chest and fake in some of the tunnels and in the indoor sections.

From what I understand the actualy Wicker Man itself, is probably not real wood, meaning it will likely have pyrotechnics on it to provide the illusion that it's on fire, while it's interior (the part that's close to the wooden track) will have fake fire. Well that's my guess at least.

Danielle Dewitt There will be real fire, and has been done on wooden coasters before (Wodan at Europa Park, Apocalypse at Six Flags Magic Mountain). Also, the wood has been coated in a fire proof solution and there are only a small number of real fire effects, which point away from the ride

A Wicker Man is a major part of ancient British culture as well as the relations to the film (even if it isn’t based on it). That’s why they chose the name to go with the theme because it’s known. ‘Wooden Man’ just sounds like a scarecrow

Alasdair Clift I’m not. I just think they could have made an effort and given it a better name. Wicker is wood so they may as well have just called it wooden man seeing as they were never going to make an effort at giving it a decent name. Though to me that looks more like an anchor.
