Thank you for this. I grew up in Wickersley - now watching this as an expat in New York. Great to see the old place again!

@@TheVillageIdiot You certainly have, sir. In these times of trouble, I must admit to feeling a certain inner calm seeing my home so up close and personal. You can take the kid out of Wickersley etc...

Hi. As a member of St. Alban’s church who spends a lot of time the building I would like to say that churches aren’t meant to be closed. We are very much open, following government guidelines and social distancing. The church will often be open as it takes a lot of people (who are all volunteers apart from the rector) to run a church doing all kinds of things that most people wouldn’t even consider. Because of COVID, we are having live services and live streaming them too which means even more times when the church is open. If you would like to film inside the church you will always be welcome (provided there isn’t a service, funeral or practice going on). Just come in! Everyone will be made welcome. Have a look at our church and choir KZbin channels to find out more and see inside the church. I hope that helps.

I must have missed that from Boris. Every church I've been to has been closed, so I guess it's up to the individual churches? Either way, it sounds like you guys at St Albans do a fab job! Thanks for the info!

@@TheVillageIdiot yes it depends whether each church can sort out being a ‘Covid secure’ environment. Plus a lot of churches sadly don’t open much anymore anyway.

@@jennygascoigne7940 a bit of a shame to be honest. It's not good, because a lot of the ones I've seen whilst doing this would be great to go and explore

@@TheVillageIdiot could be worth contacting the priest in charge of any church you’re interested in looking at. Even when churches don’t have services every week they sometimes open?

@@jennygascoigne7940 Yeah could be a plan. Where I'm going tomorrow would be good to look in, I'll have a dig and see what I can find. Thanks Jenny :D

This morning I have been out on a walk with Wickersley Walkers. There's some really interesting and nice stuff accessible by Goose Lane, I think this may be the other end of Wickersley Woods and there was this old school thing whereby back in the day, if you were taller than this door you were old enough to work. Sorry if that's a bit vague!!

Yeah Goose Lane is at the other end of Wickersley Woods. Wood Lane is in two bits

It was built to be a church, but wasn't allowed for some reason.
