Very cool! Love that the owners chose to move the house instead of selling it. More than likely it would have been demolished.

This good video reminds me of my childhood home in a small town in the beautiful central Ohio hills. It was built in 1886 and moved about 5 blocks up a hill to its present location by horses back in the early nineteen hundreds. It wasn't small either. It was three story house with four bedrooms. My parents lived there for over 40 years. It still stands in good condition today.

I love the new spot for the home. Beautiful scenery. My step dad has bought his old one room school property and he sold the school building. He took my Mom to see the school house and she said it was a shame that he sold it. The property was lined with trees that Bill and other school children planted. They purchased a used mobile home. Miss the place.

Im always surprised the glass doesn't break.

You see how slow it moves. There are no pressure changes. Don't know why the glass would break.

@@mobiltec Torsion, that's a ton of overhang but I guess that's what the steel is for. I had to jack up my place because the foundation sank over time in one corner. Cracked 1 window and a few others wouldn't open the same. Only seen a hand full of homes moved but in my town it was common from 1880-1960.

Locally I saw them move an older, probably civil war or earlier home, across a big field to its new home. They built a shopping center where it stood. It was fascinating to see, still blows my mind. The coolest one I ever saw was on tv, they took a beach house, jacked it up, put it on a barge, then moved it down a canal to its new home, amazing!

I was working as a safety director for a mom & pop trucking company back around 2012. We had gotten to the point of hauling a fair amount of oversize, but very few that required pilot services. The owner had plans to do bigger loads and become the next great oversize hauler and paid two of the guys from the shop and I to get our pilot certification. I never even got the chance to escort a load, as the cost of oversize permits, utility crews and paying for state troopers was usually enough to make the owner have a fit and decide not to haul the load. I ended up... parting ways (unexpectedly, LOL)... with the whole mess and never looked back! I really would have liked to do at least a couple of escort jobs, just to say I did it.

The "damage" might have been the roofline for an exterior stair to a basement.

Yep I think it was something they had to remove for the move.

you wouldn't be able to move a house like that here in Ireland. The roads are just to narrow. There's usually barely room for 2 cars passing each other then them you're brushing the hedge. Nice to see a house saved.
