Love your work and vision in this event decor business. This is a great learning lesson for all business owners. This is why it's important to give the customer your invoice with all the details and not adjust your pricing to lower the standard of your work. You improvised well, but I just imagined how you felt.

Thank you. She was given an invoice with the details as well as an agreement. I won't be doing that again because when things go wrong, it is now your fault. Life lessons, I was very annoyed, but I kept it professional and just focused on coming up with a solution.

You did a great job improvising! I sometimes bring extra stands with me because I never know if I’m going to have technical difficulties with my setups. I heard you say next time if this happens you’ll send a separate invoice afterwards. Never do that because then you’ll be chancing that invoice to be paid. I’m pretty good working with my clients. If there’s a way for me to come up with a plan B quickly that don’t cause any trouble, I’ll do it but if I had to go back home or storage, a fee would’ve been charged. Great job!

I always bring my stands just in case, if it doesn't take up too much room. I don't always trust other people equipment or that they will provide what they say they have.

Its a good thing we always bring "more than we need" balloons. Also, wouldn't this be priced more than what was originally quoted? If say it were a private client who you'll require 100% payment from prior, how would you handle this change of plans along with payment

In this case, I didn't have to use extra balloons. I just recreated the design to fit on the easel. In this situation, she will be charged an inconvenience fee, which will be sent on a separate invoice. Always have them sign an agreement just in case so that you're protected.
