First timer? Study these videos before the course. Study these videos every evening during the course. Pay careful attention to the errors that Ally points out as potential "fails". I made the mistake of going to one of the big training providers: I didn't get enough instructor time, I wasn't prepared for the assessment, and I failed (neglected to attach etrier to cowstail!) The following week, after absorbing the vids and doing a couple of days in the Independent shed, I passed.

Could you please clarify what you failed on? I’m doing the level 1 next week here in Sweden. Watched this series many times and tied knots at home alot.. Just having trouble understanding some of the words for all the equipment, thats why I asked. Thank you😊 PS. I’m sooo nervous😅

@@oe.nygren I was called down from the horizontal climb, on fixed anchor points, as soon as the examiner noticed that the etrier (foot loop) I was standing in was not attached to my harness by a cows-tail (lanyard). I was on a single point of attachment: instant fail. Ally points out in the video I later watched that this happens. For a complete newbie, Level one is a mass of unfamiliar procedures and there are pitfalls. My first instructor gave me reassurance. What I actually needed was repetition - rehearsal - under a watchful eye. But mental rehearsal is also vital, so watch these videos until you can remember every step... Good luck: it's scary, but it's fun !

Visually, these videos are fantastic. But the sound quality is horrible. I can't imagine many native English speakers could understand more than 50 percent of what's being said. Please consider shooting the videos without live commentary, and doing voiceovers to cover the material. It would also be great if you could list the names of the devices in the order in which they're used in the video (I understand that choosing a particular device can be an individual preference, and therefore there might be multiple options for each device, but if we at least understood what devices are being used HERE in this video, that would help us understand some of the options we can choose from).
