It was obvious that they weren't gonna do anything about Russia from a military standpoint. Only thing they can do is pass the economic sanctions proposed by the US, which also won't put coalition forces on Ukraine since a war between two nuclear powers can end up escalating into, well, the end of the world. The Russian army is now entirely on the defensive and hasn't advanced west since Bakhmut - which was taken by Wagner after 9 months of heavy fighting. Russia cannot advance any further into Ukraine in the position that they are currently in. Their only option is to stand still and defend what they have while the Ukrainian army steadily chips away at their defences and brings on the inevitable collapse of the Russian army on the front. Things are not looking good at all for Russia. And anyone who thinks that Russia's war is somehow going well for Putin is severely deluded to an almost ridiculous degree. It's like when Hitler still believed that the war could be won for Germany when soviet troops had already advanced past Poland and were getting closer and closer to Berlin every passing day.
