Widow Jane 10 Yr Small Batch Blended Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bottled at 45.5 % ABV (91 Proof). This is batch no. 687, bottle # 407. Distilled in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. Bottled from small batches of 5 barrels before being proofed down by limestone water.

I liked the WJ 10 year, and then pulled the trigger on WJ Decadence. The Decadence is the sweetest bourbon I have tasted, almost like a dessert bourbon. Pretty “smooth”.

Like it, but if they source their bourbon from several places, where does the limestone water from north of NYC fit into the final product. It seems to me that water would be used at the beginning of the production not after sourced whiskey is shipped to Brooklyn. Maybe stupid question, but wondering

That’s actually a great question and you’re kinda right. The distillate is what they source and once the aging is where they want it they proof it down with water. Thx for watching and supporting 🥃

@@WHISKEYONE I’ll keep an eye out too. We are headed to a small town in Florida end of March and they typically have a wide variety and then on to Houston for the Final 4 and will have plenty to time to visit local places-Specs has always had a good selection.

This made my day bud! What can I say, it’s what popped into my mind with this flavor bomb. I remember my first dram of it was off-putting and felt very cherry candy forward teetering on cough syrup but second time around (and my own bottle) was much different. The 10 year is my "daily" drinker. They also have a 15 year which I found to be great but only for special occasions because it's pricey. I just picked up the 10 year anniversary edition which is 100 proof.

It’s a MGP bourbon from 3 different distillery Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and blended in Brooklyn, New York. They source limestone water from the Widow Jane mine

I am also ware of this. But I want to say (cannot confirm) it is double-oaked. I believe they blend a small batch of 5 8-year old barrels (Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee), mix it with Brooklyn Water (not sure it is water from the Widow Jane Mine, but that is a different discussion) and then age it another two years.

It’s a solid bourbon overall. The 13 year is good as well, but I’m not sure it’s worth the higher price. Good review.

Thanks for the informative review. I have tried their core offering, liked it well enough... But found nothing memorable or distinguishing. Perhaps this will change that.

For a bourbon it tastes familiar and albeit a good one I agree it doesn’t stand out but then again I’m looking at it through the lenses of experience. I saw their online selection has a lot of variety so it may be worth checking out. Thx for watching 🥃

Both are solid bourbons, and either should be in your bar. It come down to preference and ow I want to try them head to head to see 😂 For the price you can’t go wrong with Rare Breed 🥃

Wow what timing! I saw the 15 yr at Total Wine here in Albuquerque last night. A first for me but I didn’t grab it because of what they wanted for it. Was I wrong?

I've had the 15 and it was wonderful however, because of the price being out of my range, it is not in my collection. So if I could afford it, it would be in my collection.

Distilled in Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana, according to the back of the bottle. Most likely Bardstown, Dickel and MGPi (which just rebranded to call themselves Ross & Squibb Distillery, but is still the same publicly traded company).

I know right? I just wish they said who exactly but we can assume at this point. I went to their website and it wasn’t much help either. Good whiskey just not as transparent as I’d like it to be. I’ll have to pour you some to see what ya think 🥃

@WHISKEY ONE , I have the 10, 13 and Decadence (which is my favorite). And I agree that more transparency is needed... BUT it's my understanding that the companies that distill the product don't want blender/bottler to say where it's from and its them that's signing NDA's. I'm guessing the big boys don't want the new guys totally riding their coattails. Got to advertise and market it 100% on their own. According to federal law, they HAVE put the state(s) of distillation and I'm sure some would like to say "MGP distilled this, so you know it's good" or "know how much Bardstown charged for these? Of course it's gonna be costly!"...lol, but they can't because the distillery doesn't want them too. Not only for the coattails, but what if the blend is bad, the distillery doesn't want someone else messing with their name. Anyways, it's all a battle between federal law, contact law, and marketing.

@@JohnKay79 That makes a lot of sense, I wouldn’t want my company’s name tarnished if someone took something I made and screwed it up 😂 At the end of the day it’s great blend and for what it’s worth the MGP flavor made the most noise at the party. We’ll have to sit down and try those other WJs sometime!

Good juice just way overpriced. If was 50 bucks ok but 68 to 80 bucks no way.

I think 10 years ago that would’ve been the price if not lower but the whiskey boom has all brands convinced that’s the new going rate. I agree it’s high, but we may just see prices get even higher which is scary. Find the good ones at a reasonable price is always my goal. Cheers to the rest of the weekend 🥃

80$ makes it way over priced. 10 year Russel is half that price.

I’m not gonna argue there, as I think way too many whiskeys are now at $80 when they should be half the price but unfortunately demand has really sparked a lot of price hikes and gouging everywhere. It’s actually a topic on my upcoming podcast so I would love to hear more of your thoughts on it. Thx for watching 🥃💯
