Her name Bomsori means “the sound of spring” in Korean, I think this performance truly deserves it.

@@iwavns yes it's very uncommon . I think less 1% people who has 4characters on names. Usually use only 3 characters, and first character 1 is family name. In this case Kim is her family name. Kim is the most common family name on korea

It seems to me that the main thing that makes Bomsori violin playing unique (of course, without taking into account the beauty of a piece of music) is still her worldview and her soul. The bright live soul of Bomsori and her energetic violin playing are always looking to the future (in some attractive way, and it's hard to describe). Bomsori not only expresses the vision of a bright and beautiful world, but also, with her undoubted sincere and powerful movement towards it, unwittingly also captivates all listeners along this path. And, perhaps, it is precisely by this that she attracts to herself all listeners who instinctively or consciously cannot but reach for this light. Are there people in general who are attracted by darkness, confusion and chaos in their souls? And if there are, how many? ... In our time, is it possible to find any of the modern violinists who can surpass Bomsori? It seems to me that all other violinists are trying to focus on something else: on the rational side of playing with homeopathic doses of expressing feelings (if not avoiding them altogether as a potentially dangerous topic); or on the bright technical aspects of playing, on unsurpassed virtuosity (although this may just be a kind of fraud), etc. However, is all this (without a direct appeal to the human soul) capable of leaving an indelible mark on the souls of listeners? Without the manifestation of human aspirations or values as the essence of music? ... PS: I hope that my attempts to understand something were not rude or surgical intervention in other people's souls and that I overstepped the boundaries of what was permitted.

Bomsori very clearly - just incredibly clearly - voices every feeling or emotion pronounced by her violin in every musical phrase. It seems to be like a person speaks - only not in words, but in a voice with a closed mouth. Bomsori's soul and her heart are simply priceless.

I got an iPad Pro, the big one. It has 4 loudspeakers, one at each corner. I am aged with high frequency hearing loss. On this device I hear all those violin high notes like I was a youth again. This is lovely music exceedingly well played. The recording, and clever, clear and attentive video editing first class. The good recording enables us to like or dislike the performance. Who is so selfish and opinionated to say whether it is “better” or “worse” than somebody else’s effort. Comparisons are just trying to ram your own selfish idea down another’s throat. If you like or dislike the recording just say so and leave it at that giving a specific music reason, do not give a preference reason, invoking any comparison with another recording. When you can do that your opinions will be valued.

What a beautiful concerto. My grandfather listened to it when I was younger, and it gives me immense nostalgia and happiness listening to it. The intro, the Violin entrance, everything about this concerto is wonderful. Wieniawski is one of, if not my favorite composer. The melancholic sound, every time I listen to his pieces, it's like the Violin is in tears, and so am. I am a Violinist, Violist and composer, and one of my goals is to be able to compose in the style of Wieniawski. If anyone has any ideas, tips, etc. on how to compose like him, please, enlighten me. Thank you. - Ettore Mantovani

It may seem that Bomsori is just playing. However, she puts her heart and soul into her game. One might think that she plays almost for herself (considering that the most demanding critic of her performance is always herself - as an artist). Bomsori sincerely shares with us a wonderful piece of music that she really loves. Probably, this is how the wonderful and amazing atmosphere is created, which is always there in all Bomsori's performances? After all, what exactly is it about her music that hooks the listener's soul so strongly?

I agree (almost). I don't know if you noiced one tiny "bad" habit - she quite frequent adds in emotionally loaded situations an unwanted bow accent ( accelerating the bow before the change) immediately before a bow change in long notes, wich leads sometimes to an audible slide at the beginning of a downshift. I f this happens as an "accident" a few times during the competition it would ot matter, but she did that in almost all pieces she played and that could have been thetwo cents in the decision to give the first prize to Ms Soyoung.
@tabletgamer28 жыл бұрын

Kim doesn't have the technique of up-bow staccato, and Wisniewski's piece was well known for its famous up and down bow staccato to produce a very beautiful sound. The second violin concerto, especially, requires this technique. I guess that explains why Kim is in second place.
