This is my father's documentary about Wieselburg in the years 1960 to 1965, the town I grew up in. Wieselburg is a small town in Austria, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) west of Vienna. My father, Ing. Franz Bauer, was a gifted filmmaker, I so enjoyed the movies he made over his lifetime, and it is only fitting that a larger audience will now be able to appreciate his creativity. He passed away in 2008, at age 91. Together with my friends Kenyan Branscomb and Daniel McFadden I filmed an introduction to my father's movie (you can hear more about him in the intro), using his original double 8mm film camera, an Eumig C3R, with the surprise of being able to do this with live sync sound. I want to thank the Film-Photography Project who supplied the color film for the double 8mm camera, which made this project possible. The film was processed by Yale Film and Video and scanned by me (www.phonotone.com), with my optimized 8mm film scanner and then digitally cleaned (dust and blob removal) and restored (scratch removal, as good as possible) using AlgoSoft Viva. There was no enhancement of the film image, it is being brought to you as I remember it from the projection screen, 55 years ago. You will be surprised how good 8mm film, particularly Kodachrome, really is. Also, a big Thank You to De Wolfe Music for allowing me access to their vast music library, the Phonotone Quartet for some great jazz and Die Donauschwäbische Blasmusik for the wonderful funeral march "Auf Ewig". I hope you will enjoy this very special documentary.
