Apparently she wasn't as careful as she thought. A very wise person told me something that stuck with me. Marriages, like a house, need a firm foundation. Mistrust and disrespect are like the sand from the parable.

It is as her ex-husband stated: a safety net is fine, if its not a secret. And Pre-nups are a great safety net too. considering that by the sound of it she was still full time employed in her field of financial, unlike her sahm friend mandy. A private bank account with money sourced from joint funds would not be justified. That type of setup is like a private retirement account. Additionally ...30k/yr is excessive for any tier of middle class.

And this gentlemen, is why you keep separate accounts. Never give anyone full access to your finances. If this played out differently and they split, she would have gotten half of everything with the bonus secret account never being found out.

This what happens when you try to role play as Robin Hood and it blows up in your face and I bet she is going to regret her decision

As she said, she wanted to "protect herself, just in case". But her method of "protecting herself" was such an obvious betrayal it's what precipitated the "just in case" scenario. I think the biggest shock would be realizing that he was married to someone that may have multiple personality disorder! 😬

Living your life from a foundation of fear and mistrust usually produces a harvest of bitterness and poverty in all areas of life. An attitude of gratitude, abundance and generosity produces a rich harvest with plenty for all.

Steal from your husband and you got burned. Deserved everything you get, It's also Community Property, so he would have been entitled to half. He thought big, punished in a grand way demanding an 80/20 split. This is why you do NOT share accounts Gentlemen. Don't even live with anyone, don't even consider marriage Gentlemen. I'd ruin her in her profession too. No telling if she's siphoning money from a company/ companies, clients whatever the case may be. Everyone she deals with needs to conduct an audit of THEIR finances. Since she did put the money back, it would be up to a lawyer as to what legal repercussions if any she COULD face.

It’s funny she was focused on what women’s go through the divorce not realizing that’s because they don’t financially contribute to the marriage. She didn’t research how many men lose their lifestyle dropping to poverty or commit suicide after being ruined in a divorce.

My dear precious women, especially those of you who take marriage advice from other women. Stop it stop it stop it. If you take their advice, you will be divorced sooner rather than later. The fastest way to end up divorced and broke is to lie to your husband about squirreling away money as an insurance plan against him. Man, even women, do not take kindly to that from their spouse. And yes, I have heard of ionic men who have tried this as well. It did not end well for them.

What was her plan exactly? In case of a divorce her seperate account would be taken into account when splitting assets and deciding the amount of alimony. As shown the transaction are easily proven.

If the account is not disclosed or found out?

@@HearitStories The transaction history is quite easy proof. And she was so bright that she created a spreadsheet as further proof. And failure to disclose the account would amount to court and that - as far as I know - could come backnto bite her even years after the divorce if revealed. So yeah, all in all not that bright of an idea of hers.

She didn’t research very well women ended up in poverty because they were sponging off their husbands, not contributing financially to the marriage. That’s why they end up in poverty and of course they see a drop in standard living. Shouldn’t bother to check to see how many men end up in poverty, how many men are their lifestyles crumble how many men commit suicide after being ruined in a divorce

Since she transferred the money back before any paperwork was filed, there was no fraud case. Fraud would occur if she failed to disclose the money when listing assets. It would look bad in court, but no civil or legal charges could be filed.

By that logic if a thief returns whatever he stole then there would be no theft case

@@HearitStories In marriage, all money belongs to both spouses. Talk with any lawyer you want and they will tell you that hiding the money, for any reason, is legal up until they are required by law to give financial statements and omit to disclose it. The point was, she did not have to take the 80/20 split. Her lawyer could easily explain away the reason for not telling the husband about the money, then rightly point out it is now in the joint account. She didn't cheat, she didn't claim abuse, she was simply putting in her personal account. No case.
