I can relate to the story, so difficult if someone wrecks the family. Been married for 30 years. You're spot on and I agreed with you in how you sum up the whole series .... so well written as well as poetic I would like to add a little bit more especially about Wuting. She's a very strong, intelligent, caring and kind woman who found her true self and grew up. She wanted to be sure that lihai was really and truly over xiaofei. So she let him go back to China to continue working by himself after getting him back. She took that gamble ... true enough lihai and xiaofei got back together. When she knew about that her last ditch was to inform xiaofei what being a wife to lihai was as it's not all hankydory. Because she had already sown the guilt and shame seeds into lihai's head. As I'd mentioned before she knew lihai through and through like over 20 years. Where xiaofei's concerned I had no compassion for what she did at the end ... she was "cornered" because even her old boss who was also Wuting's old boss told and showed her how talented Wuting was as a reporter before her marriage. And let her know that lihai was only seeing her as a young Wuting when they first met. Lihai was going through a phase ... "the seven years itch" of an older successful businessman with a hormonal crisis. If xiaofei couldn't see that she's an idiot. So actually I have no sympathy or compassion for her because she caused so much hurt not only to Wuting but Yingzix the daughter, Wuting's parents . At the end herself and not to mention lihai - the man whom she claimed to truly loved. To me it's more of an obsession and delusion.
