Nice review, will wait for its comparison with s5 max and probably a new roborock vacuum upcoming i just got the s5 max i ordered over the weekend and i love it so far! Technically its just been a day but i had roomba 960 before Everything on the s5 max is an absolute upgrade over that Except the build quality, not that it matters hopefully, But thats the only thing i found better on the Roomba

Glad to hear the S5 Max is working out. Yeah the Roborock has a lot more features over the 960 but I find the 960 to be rock solid in terms of build quality. A lot Roomba owners say they have had their Roomba for 5+ years. Roborock seems to be going well, had the S5 for several years and the S6 for 1.5 years.

I own the Viomi v2 almost right after it came out. And at the time, no Xiaomi\RobOrock vacuum was like viomi. If you speak about clone is the other way around, the almost identical mijia styj02ym was launched long after viomi V2. Viomi V2 platform is present in other brands too besides Xiaomi. Ex: Cecotec and Proscenic. They use almost identical OEM models between them. Also, buying viomi is having quality expected by the brand being part of Xiaomis ecosystem. Very happy with vacuum and through firmware updates it's getting better. Besides the filter, bigger battery, and new aesthetics, the v2 with the latest firmware is basically a v3 with shorter vacuuming time. Viomi v3 was launched around one year and half after v2 s launch in early 2019

Another great video Nathan. Re buying something nice to make your wife happy again - how about getting her a self-emptying dock for an Ozmo Deebot T8 as soon as that comes out? I'm sure that would be the ideal gift to make her forgive you - not! I actually had a V2 Pro on order from Geekbuying in January but there were huge delivery delays because of Chinese New Year and Coronavirus just starting in China and sghutting down a lot of production and shipping companies so I ended up cancelling my order and getting a Roborock s5 Max. From looking at your videos and the specs I think that for vacuuming there's probably not a lot between them, maybe the Roborock wins slightly because of wall sensor, better side brush speed, and a wider support network even though it's the same company. For mopping though it looks to me as if the V2 Pro might be a big winner there with its pre-wet-the-pad thing and the option for the y-shaped mopping pattern. It would be very interesting to see a mopping challenge s5 Max vs V2 Pro vs M6 Braava. From the specs I would expect the results in that order, s5 Max bottom, M6 Braava top and V2 Pro somewhere in between but it would be very interesting to see if that is right and if it is then how close V2 pro gets to M6 performance and how far behind the others the s5 Max is.

You nailed that speculation, yes I suspect the Braava m6 to perform the best, Viomi 2nd and Roborock 3rd for mopping performance. For the Roborock, pre wetting the mopping pad helps prevents the dry spots.

No, probably stick with their original side brush that came with the robot to avoid damage to the side brush motors by using an incompatible one.

Great video, thanks! Would you go with the new 360 S6 Pro or Viomi V2 Pro? I understand 360 has a better vacuum performance (?), great app and very functional, but Viomi does a better mopping? Is there really a big difference?

Viomi V2 does do a slighly better job at mopping because of the dedicated Y mopping pattern. It depends what you are looking for, if you are planning on doing a lot mopping than the Viomi the better choice, but if you have 3 or more floor plans the 360 can save up to 10. The navigation about the same on both models. Another thing to note, the 360 water system gravity feed so there no way to control the flow if water via the app.

What firmware version did you review this on? Have you tried the newest one ( version 3.5.8_0034 )? Saw many people complaining on Viomi Tech Facebook page about the newest firmware, not sure if it's recommended to buy right now..

Yes it was on 3.5.8_0034, when I created this video. Do you know what the problems were? The only issue I experienced was the robot couldn’t resume a cleaning job if you paused the robot for a brief amount of time using the physical buttons on the robot.

@@RobotMastersIn the facebook post the viomi team said that water is not coming out properly in the mopping function, very little to none. And the comments also said that the mop is dry. Other comments complaining about the water tank not being detected by the robot even though its already inside, the robot knocks the charging station, the robot takes too long to finish, the robot couldn't properly get back to the charging station, etc. Not sure if all these is valid though, can you confirm if any of these is happening or not with your robot? And did you use this firmware from the start or did you use an older firmware and then upgrade to the new one? Because it seems all the complains are from people upgrading their firmware from the old one, and wanting to downgrade.

hello! i own the Viomi V2 pro vacuum. i do have a question: sometimes on Mop mode the vacuum just blocks on the tile floor, going in circles like it is stuck, but it is not the case - as it has nothing around. after staying in circles in this way - it just goes to dock and says cleaning is complete. what is wrong? Did it ever happen to you?

Hmmn, does the robot do this when vacuuming only? Has the robot completed the mopping job in the area before without issues. Make sure the robot sensor are clean. Wipe down the front, and bottom of the robot. Could also be one of the wheels are getting stuck causing it to go in circles. If possible you could try filling what the viomi doing and put upload it to your channel. I could take a look and see exactly what going on.

Hi! I got this issue back again. In the past 2 weeks I noticed the same thing. I clean the apartment on vacuum mode. Set it back to Home, then adding water in the 2in 1 tank + mop. Viomi mops the entire house, except the last half of the hallway (made out of tile). Here it gets stuck, goes back in constant circles, and makes weird noises from blockage of the wheels. If I restart mopping, same thing happens only it block in other areas. I really don't know what to do. I changed mop cloth, changed water tank, changed water, cleaned sensors and wheels - same issue => streamable.com/2wdsjn.

Thanks for making these videos. They help with the decision process a lot. There are lot of vaccums out there and your videos really help. I am looking for a robot vaccum which can do better mopping too. I have tile and hardwood floors throughout my house. So far I think Roborock S5 Max and Viomi V3 are my options. Which one would you suggest is better between them. I am more interested in a reliable robot with better navigation with longer life span. I had the Neoto Botvac D80 and it lasted me 6 years and now the sensors are dying and need to replace it. I see that both roborock S5 Max and Viomi V3 have the same kind of navigation but I like the mopping ability for V3. Is Viomi a reliable company? Does it have frequent software updates? Is it as reliable as S5 Max? Thanks I will appreciate your help.

Hello, so I have used the Viomi V2 and S5 Max and have found the navigation and software updates to be better on the S5 Max. Now the Viomi has the Y mopping pattern which does a little better than the S5 Max mopping pattern. So if you want the better mopping performance the Viomi V3 the better choice. In terms of reliability they both been running well without any issues.

masthasina1982 The only reason to get the S6 MaxV over the S5 Max if you want the object recognition from the front facing camera. For the value I think the S5 Max should be good enough for most users. Yes you can cover 1,000 sqft on the mopping system.

nice video as always. Unfortunately I will not buy any products from Xiaomi, their data privacy policy is scary and many people on reddit have said their robots are consistently uploading gigs of data to Xiaomi servers.

WoW did not know that, will have to look into the data usage to see how much data is being used. If I am not mistaken I think the 360 Models use military grade encryption and have encrypted ports, so the company claims their robots the most secure.

Do you know or remember central vacumm systems. It was a outlet in each rooms wall that vacumm hose pluged into, stuff traveled to one canisters to dump. One day that and robot vacumm will be combined, they will empty into central outlet connect to main collector canister. Of course new homes will have this first

Yeah US homes usually don’t have this, I know in other countries it a common thing. Some robot brands do have a port in the dust bin to allow a vacuum to suck out the dirt bin. I think that the way to go, also high end RV have a floor vac where you just push the dirt near the vent and it sucks the dirt up.

I have found pre wetting the mopping pad helps get the edges better. The water droplets are dispensed near the center of the pad so if there no capillary action to draw the water toward the edges the edges dry up. One unique thing about the Viomi is it has a mode where it spins 360 degrees and pre wets the pad before starting to mop.

I don't think the cloth can dry out, because in the central path it passes several times on the damp part, so it seems quite uniform to me. With the mixed tank you can instead observe the release of the lateral water. Thanks for the reply.

Here in the US we have to use an over seas server to pair the robot up, so if you have multiple robots on the Mi Home account have to switch servers back and forth between the robots. The robot itself is pretty good, haven't had an software update in awhile.

Yet another week without a patch for the hideous bugs that slipped through on the V2 Pro 4 months ago. I've been a huge Xiaomi supporter. Now I discourage everyone from buying Xiaomi products. With such poor development support, anything that you buy, can be broken by incompetent developers shortly thereafter.
