If you listen to it entirely, the letter is at the end, and he learns the truth. You learn that the wife never really stopped loving the husband, but did what she had to, to save their daughters life.

My dad (stepdad but raised me since i was 6months old) went thru something similar when i was a child. I was extremely sick and my dad volunteered to go fight after 9/11 to help pay medical bill. My dad was gone for 6months and my mom cheated the whole time with my sperm donor for extra help for me and my siblings. Yet the donor was a prick and could careless about me his own kid nor my siblings who werent.

His first line was ending his own life to award the insurance to allow his wife and child to live, her actions was entirely about the child and if you don't see that or hear everything read out loud, you are blind in more ways then one

Tough story!! Both father and mother willing to sacrifice for their daughter that only had a day to day life expectancy but never talking really talking about what they are facing drove them apart. Eventually coming back to the beginning. Sadly 2 others paid the price one unwittingly the other knowing how he managed to get what he wanted and did everything to make it happen!!

The husband was going to kill himself to get his life insurance for his wife and daughter. The wife leaves the husband, suddenly, to prevent the husband's suicide, because she loves him, but she doesn't tell him why at the time. He is left believing that the wife had some kind of affair. Years later, the truth comes out and they get back together.
