couldn't help but laugh at the FIL when he said "this family doesn't believe in divorce" well after the divorce we aren't family so guess it doesn't matter.

The thumbnail is clickbait. That’s not an abusive father, that’s just a father. He’s responsible for discipline and they should be scared if he gets involved
@QueenSyndel
@QueenSyndel 7 ай бұрын
Reasons the dad is abusive as hell 1) They’re scared of him your children shouldn’t be scared of you. 2) He doesn’t believe in people getting divorce so he’s practically forcing his Son in law to stay in a shitty marriage which is fucking ridiculous. 3) He just casually steals his daughter’s passport which is a government document and I’m pretty sure thats illegal. 4) He cares so much about his family’s perception that he gives OP hush money to keep quiet. This “family” is extremely toxic and honestly the dad was the crux of the problem if both of his children are POS then he’s a POS father.

@@QueenSyndel 1)children should be scared of the parent that disciplines them. I was scared of my mom cause she disciplined me. There is a difference between discipline and abuse. If he was abusive op would not even have met him. 2)That’s a good thing. Marriages are about a couple working through. He’s trying to fix his daughter’s mess. 3) just cause the kids are older doesn’t mean your don’t being a parent. He took away a privilege of his daughter’s. This has which cause this mess in the 1st place. 4)he saw that he wasn’t going to change op’s mind, so the hush money wasn’t to protect his family it’s to protect his daughters reputation. All the things you stated. 2 of them didn’t have anything to do with his daughter at all, and the other 2 were literally just being the tough parent. You say abusive but it’s a father trying to protect and fix his daughter’s mistake. She fked up and he’s trying to save her marriage and at least her reputation. That’s not abusive that shows that he loves his daughter and is willing to fight for her to be happy.

@@epichungering9648 1) raising a child to be scared of you even into adulthood is abuse not discipline if you think that’s discipline you’re full of it 2) That mindset is why people stay miserable in bad marriages both OP and his wife wanted a divorce Dad can piss off. 3) As soon as you become an adult your parents have zero control over your life, and your decisions whatsoever. You can’t just take away “privileges” that’s like if you piss your mom off, and she comes to your house and takes your drivers license because “she’s your parent”. 4) He disowned his daughter and paid OP to keep quiet about why they’re divorcing he did to cover his reputation as a “good father” you don’t disown someone and then try to protect them that makes no sense. If the dad put so much discipline into his children then why did both daughters turn out to be so shitty, because you had a dis functional man raise dis functional children.

OP's FIL is basically a person who could straighten out almost anyone. He did everything to protect his family from Diane and Irene. While it can be debated that the FIL was unreasonable for making OP stay with Diane, he was likely just afraid of staining the family name solely because of the actions of two of his kids, and FIL did his best to ensure both kids pulled their own weight. In any case, the important thing is that FIL knew that OP was in the right and did everything to resolve the situation in both their best interests. I don't believe that Irene caused Diane to do what she did, though. Diane could've said no, but didn't. She could've told OP earlier, but didn't. I feel bad for OP, but also for FIL. While FIL made OP deal with staying with Diane, he knew when the situation was no longer salvageable and cut his losses. FIL seemed to do the best he could to make his daughters productive women, but something that was beyond his control changed that, and he had to go to extreme measures to save his family name and try to make it a win-win for everyone. FIL has selfish parts, but his morals are still pretty good. Say what you want, but FIL knows how to raise children. Just a shame that some slip through the cracks...
@LB-ou8py
@LB-ou8py 8 ай бұрын
I agree with you. But although everyone thinks it was all about the family name for the FIL. I really think from the story that the FIL stance was one that you own up to your mistakes and that's what he tried to teach his kids. His SIL got his daughter pregnant he needed to step up and take care of the family that was on the way. SIL married her and took care of his son. (Unfortunately too many people have unprotected sex then walk away from the children they create). FIL's approach of own up to your mistakes in noble and he made sure is children did that. By making them pay back the money they spent, take responsibility for a child outside of marriage and deal with the consequences.

They lived at home with both parents and their father was unable to instil Christian virtues or in fact, make them take responsibility for their actions. His only resort now would be pretty harsh. I guess the next update will be at Irene’s engagement or marriage with Diane opportunistically taking a savage revenge

Why would anyone sign papers about their child. By law if anything happens to the mom then the father has rights. No need for anything in writing, so no need for legal documentation, unless it is to take the child away.

As for the sister: He life started to fall apart as she ended up with the wrong person. She did found herself dating a rich guy and she was living a very wealthy life eventually until that guy sold her to pay of his debt. Now she is under the care of the loan sharks. The parents found her and eventually she developed PSTD and also got admitted as well to the mental facility. Th is the end of a very reputed family as now they are shunned by others. As for the MC, he was able to find himself another partner and is able to live a happy life. This shocked the ex more when she heard of this and started regretting everything and at this point she attacked her sister and s---shamed her.

Not exactly the most believable story. I mean, why wouldn't the guy ask for a divorce right away after that big of an initial betrayal? Why didn't the wife get an abortion if it wasn't her husband's baby? Why didn't the wife read what she was signing when she gave up the baby? And why does the guy have to sound like an insufferable douche about everything? Like, his wife betrayed and cheated on him, yet the way he talks about everything makes him manage to be unsympathetic. Not one ounce of concern or compassion in even the earliest update? Something tells me this marriage was on unstable foundations to begin with.

The first parts of your questioning are easily diffused 1) she would’ve received a settlement from a divorce. He would’ve likely paid a decade or more of alimony. 2) she could’ve very easily passed this child off as his and he’d never be wise to it. It’s also possible she’s against getting an abortion. And she would’ve been incentivized to keep the baby because it stabilized her life out

Sorry but the last part wasnt funny or okay. She lost her baby girl and the father left the country with her? Thats not fair to the baby and the mother. This is the worst and to be happy about breaking the bond between the mother and child just to be petty is disgusting.
