I think the nether as we see it today is in the recovery process from the ancient withers. The ancient withers obliterated nearly all life in the dimension and fizzled out since there was no longer any prey, leaving the nether in a state that probably looked like pre-1.16 nether. A few life forms survived and slowly began regrowing, eventually becoming the forests we know today. The dimension is still healing, however, hence the nether wastes that are still barren from this ancient genocide.

The ribs are there because after ancient withers started dying, the ancient withers that were still alive would scatter the remains of the dead withers so that they could spread the soul energy to create skeletons that would absorb more soul energy which would become wither skeletons.

*Theory mode active.* The Wither Storm ruled the nether. The wither skeletons were its humble minions, but the wither storm got too powerful. This is why Piglins stepped in, and killed the wither storm. This would explain why bastions are often damaged, and brute piglins have those scars on their eyes. It is also the reason why piglins actively begin to attack wither skeletons whenever in contact. Anyway - when the Wither Storm died, its ashes spread around, forming *SOUL* sand valleys. This is why fossils are common in soul sand valleys. By harvesting these ashes, and farming the minions' skulls, you can create a Wither. The Wither is a creature that the Wither Storm created to watch over the nether, as the storm is a god. but thats just a theory *A GAME THEORY*
@shadow15kryans233 жыл бұрын
That and the obvious wither embedding signed into blocks in the overworld implies knowledge of this wither that the ancient race of humans had.... Game Theory aka matpat also pointed out the achievement stuff with this likely implies the ancient builder race died out from these withers which caused them to end up fleeing to the end and becoming endermen. Which makes sense with this behomoth wither theory, because this explains WHY they chose the ender dragon over the wither seemingly so easily in large masses causing said extinction leaving only the players and few others like the ones in the Minecraft story books. Aka this mass scale/size and threat difference would make choosing not so hard Also EVEN THOUGH they likely couldn't escape the nether, notice how lightning and/or soul energy seems to make pigs into zombie piglens, soooo I wouldn't be so due to this I wouldn't be surprised if it caused zombie outbreaks! The shedding of it's flesh from starvation and it's infectivity of soul energy probs caused skeleton outbreaks (since they could actually follow the players through players like zombies can) and it maybe even made smaller withers that could actually go through the portals and etc... Due to this mass fleeing + there large size trapping them in the nether Incapable of going through even the largest nether portals, and incapable of fleeing the nether where they likely were originally made + Shedding from there slow deaths probs causing mass hostile mob outbreaks This would cause not just the ancient builders to flee BUT it would ALSO make it so there only food source for soul energy aka Ancient builders to be deprived from these big withers explaining how they died to! Aka in Layman's Terms If you mix this theory up enough with Matpats from Game theory it starts to make sense

@@guidinglight9082 the wither storm was introduced in a more modern time, being the first of its kind and being man made So the only way a wither storm could be in the nether was if humans made it, but that’s unlikely as the wither storm is something that destroys ANYTHING it comes across Why would humans put time and work into something that would cause destruction to innocent beings and themselves Although I agree with the behemoth wither, it’s not a wither storm as it uses things used to make a wither, but with a block in the middle that has power of gods as it can be powered up and create mass out of nothing, not only that but it can create life and make mass into nothing

What if they were giant withers? The idea that the fossils in Minecraft might belong to colossal Withers is an interesting theory that aligns well with the game’s dark and mysterious lore. Here’s a way to expand on that concept: Theory: The Colossal Wither Beasts In this theory, the fossils scattered across Minecraft’s deserts and swamps are the remains of ancient, gigantic Wither Beasts-so immense that they eventually collapsed under their own weight. These titanic Withers could have been powerful, primal forces in an ancient age, terrorizing the world and shaping the landscape through their sheer destructive power. Key Points to Support the Theory: 1. Bone Block Composition: The fossils are made of bone blocks, which are associated with both Wither Skeletons and the summoning of Withers. This connection could suggest that these fossils belonged to Withers of unimaginable size and power. 2. Destruction by Their Own Power: These colossal Withers may have been so large and destructive that they couldn’t sustain their own existence, leading to their eventual demise. Their sheer size would have caused them to crumble, leaving only their massive skeletons as remnants. 3. Environmental Impact: The barren landscapes of deserts and swamps could be evidence of the Withers’ devastating influence on the environment. These regions might have been lush and thriving before these giant Withers drained the life from the land, turning them into the desolate biomes we see today. 4. Wither Lore Expansion: In existing Minecraft lore, the Wither is a powerful, destructive entity summoned by players, but what if ancient civilizations once worshiped or feared these colossal versions? The fossils could be remnants of failed attempts to control these beings, resulting in their death and leaving only skeletal remains behind. 5. Implication of New Gameplay: This theory could also inspire future updates or lore expansions in Minecraft. Imagine the possibility of encountering Wither Beasts that are far larger and more powerful than the Wither boss in the game today-ancient bosses that players must find and awaken by piecing together their remains. While this theory is speculative, it adds a rich layer of lore that deepens the mystery of Minecraft’s fossils and provides a unique backstory for the game's eerie, abandoned world.

@@Bxll_Bxll hmm true, good ideas. I'm curious as to why carved pumpkins are used to create both iron golems and snow golems and can also protect you from aggrevating enderman... I think I came across a video about it ages ago but have forgotten, because it feels like pumpkins must be tied into the soul energy somehow if they're able to create life? The link to soul energy is clearer with the Wither because it uses soul sand and Wither Skeleton skulls, but less so with pumpkins. Maybe it's because the carved pumpkins resembles a skull/face? Similar to how if you wear a mob head that mob won't recognise you until you're closer? Yet only the wither skeleton skulls and carved pumpkins are used to create life (golems)... I did actually have a similar theory to the fossils being created from the soul energy but it was the ghasts -> the ghasts are combined souls that have escaped the soul soil and formed a creature - one that roams around the nether and fires at players (perhaps revenge? fear? who knows)...

The reason why one descendant of them can beat the wither is because we aren't a descendant of them. We are a creation of the illagers, just as the illagers managed to create a much more powerful version of themselves, so too did they of the ancient builders, Steve.

If these ribs were ancient wither storms there must be a strong connections with the nether and command blocks, what if command blocks were powered by soul energy and one day there was so much energy flowing a command block was made. Once the command block was made it started sucking blocks in and made a wither, with this it kept sucking in blocks making the wither bigger and bigger till it became a storm and it sucked in tons of blocks, once the nether builders made bastions and fortresses the storms started breaking these structures, the builders had enough and they killed the storms, but with this the builders and withers were killed there was no one left to fix up these structures.

@@gorethereaper9193 and the only way to kill a wither storm is by killing the comando block so thats why theres no block in the ribs

Maybe a not so fun-fact: When the Earth was younger it had increased levels of oxygen, and, it's known that increasing the level of oxygen in the habitat of an animal or plant, I'll be bigger So maybe the Minecraft "Earth" and Nether had increased levels of O2, so mobs were big And the Wither were massive

Makes sense but why is it “not so fun”. That usually means extremely un fun (i.e. scary)
@ZHibiki3 жыл бұрын
While true, during that time life on earth nearly went extinct (also the only type of life during that time were bacteria). Also, that oxygen=bigger only applies to insects and arthropods

@@ZHibiki man, MAN There were 2 periods of high oxygen on earth One with the photosynthesis in bacteria And another when the plants colonized the continent In this period, when the bugs were, "invented", kind of, were bigger cause the high oxygen that plants emited God, my english sucks ass

I have a theory on about how the wither died. According to the theory of Game theory that the nether was once a cold place, we can assume what ever made the nether hot, it killed of the Wither, whether Lack of prey or the heat itself

"Obviously, it has to be said these skulls and fossils are way larger than the mobs we see in-game" Well, that's probably true, since in earth's past, all the animals *were* huge compared to today's animals.

Here is my theory: When you walk on soul sand with soul speed, the enchantment is able to free the should energy. The souls (that made up the soul energy) are thankful for you freeing them and reward you with a short burst of speed.
