Yes the ends get dry and look frayed BUT.BUT.... moist steam to the ends ONLY will bring back to beautiful! Super steam the ends and the fray will disappear before your eyes. Very helpful review. As someone with straight hair, the damage that you describe as fraying ends is fairly normal with fine hair but it’s called split ends. It happens even with good hair care.

Good to know. I also keep a spreadsheet and log how often I wear my wigs. Right now, my JR Cameron has the most days on her at 56 wears and she has no fraying at all. @@heywigsister Now that I know you log, too, I'm wondering how many wears you have gotten out of any of your Girl Monos. She's at the top of my wish list. 😁
@heywigsister5 жыл бұрын
@@georgiabriggs5700 I have only been wearing wigs since last September, and bought my first girl Mono in November. Here is the video I did on an old and a new Girl Mono. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np7WlXWletlrgdE At that point I had been wearing the old one for 4 months, 4-5 days per week (this was back when I wasn't as comfortable with wigs and didn't change out my style at work very often). Unfortunately I didn't start tracking my wig wearing until January, but from January to March I wore her 24 times, and from November to January I probably wore her at least that many times. I still loved her and didn't realize how much she had changed until I pulled a new one out of the box and compared them. Doesn't matter, I think she was still going strong. She has been packed away in her box now as I have gone lighter for the summer, but I am about to pull her out again (the old one) and start wearing her as the weather changes and I go back to darker wigs. Additionally- I got a used GM in the color Light Bernstein Rooted and that one is going really strong. She sent her to me because she wore her a ton and was about to retire her... well, I have worn her 17 times since I got her and seriously think she has at least 20 more wears in her if not more... that one is probably 7 months old at this point (consider I got her in May and my friend had been wearing her for for 3-4 months prior to that). I consider Girl Mono a WORKHORSE!

The straight style is adorable and the color !! One thing I do , I may have told you is , On my BT pieces, I spray the JR heat treat spray then I run a 350 degree straighter over the ends. Hi Denise, you look gorgeous in this style...it really suits your face shape. I would consider three options....firstly steam, if that doesn't work a flat iron with product, and then as a last resort, a trip to a hairdresser to tri. The tiniest bit off the ends. To tell you the truth the ends look no worse than someone with coloured natural hair! Still looks amazing. Anyway, thanks so much for your time...helps all of us. God bless you and your family.💜💜💜

BT has the best fibres and I think the fraying is from running hands through, or at least I think mine is from that 💁🏼 I love these follow up videos Denise. I think you absolutely need to take some heat to her. I recently saw a video (I can’t remember where) and they used a hot air brush with some steam added, and if that didn’t work then a hair straightener. Something to consider! 💛

LOL- that's what I was trying to say. I wanted to give an honest assessment but also share that we have to take it in context and look at reality as well. That wig is so cute on you and i totally agree with you, no one else will notice the ends being a little frayed. I like longer wigs and i never change a style other than to cut bangs in, but I don't pay much attention to whether they are HD or not. Style and color are more important for me. I don't normally wear a wig all day so that probably makes a difference. Really though, I can see the fraying on that wig when you are showing it, but I'd never notice it if you weren't pointing it out. I've heard steaming frayed ends helps a lot.

Hi Denise. I absolutely love this wig on you. The color and style look absolutely beautiful on you! It reminds me of Esteticas Jamison which I have. I wore Jamison for a year about 4 days a week and the fibers are still fine but the entire cap stretched out and unless I try to sew in some elastic into it I cannot wear it. I did get the fraying ends on Esteticas Sky. Tried soaking overnight in Downey more than once and also sprayed the ends with silicone spray which helped a bit. It's not a heat friendly wig but I will try steaming the ends and see what happens. I used steam on many non heat friendly wigs and they were fine. I would love for you to do a follow up after you steam the ends to let us know if it worked. Love all your videos! You are so very sweet!

If you're a dork, I'm a dork, too! I keep a piece of paper in each wig box with the name on it and two columns labeled "Worn" and "Wash" and add the date for each time. I could see what you were pointing out about the ends, although I didn't think it looked bad. Have you tried using a steamer and a round brush? Often times that can rejuvenate a dry or fraying wig. Love that your reviews are as if we're in the same room and you're just talking to us. :D

Denise, are you completely open about wig wearing? I want to be, but I have a hard time with the pity, advice on hair regrowth, and the wig shaming women love to engage in. Are you beyond all this? Lady Latte is gorgeous on you. HD fiber terrifies me. Your reviews are so helpful.
@heywigsister5 жыл бұрын
I am very open about it. I post it on my personal FB page, personal Instagram, I tell people at work... I will admit I still get nervous when I wear a style or color different than my norm to work, and do try to keep the length and color similar most of the time just to avoid undue attention (by similar I mean within 4 or so inches and 3 or so shades so still quite a biy of changing up going on). ... so far I've never had anyone try to give me advice on how to regrow my hair or make me feel bad for wearing wigs. I think a lot has to do with the way I approach it. I don't apologize or make it sound like a bad thing... I'm usually pretty excited to talk about it if I get the chance. I'm over feeling sad about hairloss that started 20 years ago and thrilled that I now have a solution. Wigs are not perfect but they are 1000 times better than my biohair or any other "solution" I've ever tried. I just know you will get there someday if you really want to!!

So, I am sure there are a wide variety of answers to this question but I would appreciate your take. How often do you wash your wigs? What is the best type of washing schedule to keep your wigs looking great for as long as ppssible? Thanks Denise!
@heywigsister5 жыл бұрын
Well I've heard going as long as possible is best. I try to go at least 8 wears, sometimes I make it and sometimes I don't. I gauge by how the piece is looking and feeling (and smelling). I've had wigs need a wash within 3 wears before. Some wigs seems to need a wash sooner the first time depending on the coating the mfg used... and then some will need it more often as they age. There really isn't a one size fits all answer.

I am in love with belletress so I am partial to the brand. I almost exclusively wear them all of the time with the exception of Estetica. So wn i started wearing wigs i was use to the HD fibers and when I first got Estetica brand in synthetic I thought”omg how rough and stiff these fibers are”. But I adjusted. Over the past 2 yrs I’ve learned so much about HD. I have worn some daily for 6 months but they do not touch my collar bc I wear short bobs “Bellisima” and couple others and I find they also last longer in the winter than summer bc of sweating I guess....not sure. I have found a good balance of products and keep simply stylin available at all times. I shear the ends when they get “straw like”.The one thing I have noticed is if you use heat on the ends or on the fibers they must be clean and free of any product because they lump really bad if they are not clean, and it’s very hard to change them once I use heat. Thank you for all of your time and effort I still learn something new about wigs daily!

Yes, to a certain extent. The problem is when a Heat Friendly or HD wig frizzes like that on the ends it is a little more extreme than a regular synthetic and so heat is really the only thing that really works. I'll be pulling or out again soon in preparation for warmer weather (this is more of a summer color for me) and will play with the heat and share how it goes.

My picture shows a wig with bangs which I am having trouble finding one in a good quality but I get so many compliments on this style on me! Maybe you can help me find some styles that I’ve been looking for is it best to email you?

Hi, Linda! One option would be to find a style you really like and then have bangs cut into it by a stylist. That would really open up the possibilities to you. Are you on Facebook at all? I honestly think there is no substitute to being part of a wig support group to get your questions answered- that way you will have LOTS of women with lots of different experiences. I am happy to help if I can, although I don't wear wigs with bangs so don't have much experience in that area. I am Denise Dancik Sheets on facebook if you want to message me there.. you can always email me at heywigsister@gmail.com as well... keep in mind I have only been wearing wigs for about 16 months and haven't tried all styles, lol.
