The club game was still just about competitive in the late 80s/early 90s before Wigan signed up all the talent. GB were as strong as Australia back then & why the 1990 & 1992 series were such belters!

@@martinharvey3990 yes agreed...then Maurice contrived to shaft widnes. After their first poor year in 30 ...after they had made the legendary green machine look like boys! The only times weve been competitive since was by playing in that mould....Schoie, Longie trying stuff...then we got The ‘greatest mind in the game’ picking Bateman at centre and Graham at 13.....yee gods!
