Wiggles 2013 at the Sydney Royal Easter Show - Second set (great video) - March 29, 2013

Songs included are "Toot Toot Chugga Chugga Big Red Car", "Simon Says" and "Do the Propeller". Because I took it outside and sometimes the sun was behind a cloud and sometimes it wasn't, my camera tried a couple times to change the brightness to compensate for the changing light, but other than that, this one's a great one as Wiggles audience videos go. :-) It was recorded with my DSLR's HD movie mode that I'm getting better at using, with practice! The only way it could have been better is if I'd lugged my tripod -- which I forgot to do.
The New Wiggles have been doing a few "meet and greets" for photos and/or autographs here in Australia in early 2013. This latest one was apparently sponsored by the folks at Samsung. As with the other meet and greets, it was billed as "not a performance", but those who showed up and waited in the queue got a treat -- the Wiggles "unplugged", with Anthony accompanying the group on an acoustic guitar for a few songs. I saw them do two short sets of several songs, but wasn't there the entire time so I might have missed other sets.

I agree, but the new team is cool in their own way. I wasn't very optimistic about the new lineup until I saw a couple early performances and watched as they came into their own, learned what worked and didn't work, etc. It's still just *that much* more well done than any similar entertainment like Hi-5 or whatever. Even the thing about who sits where in the Big Red Car makes sense - to a child, who has not ever seen them in the Big Red Car, it makes sense that they'd discuss who sits where.

As old as Anthony is, maybe he will find he has to retire. But the Wiggles will never find another Anthony Wiggle. This concert is great. One bit is especially funny. When Lachy sings the third verse, of Toot Toot, he changes the lyrics. Anthony is eating, He's got so much food. He's also playing the guitar, And singing too. A real laugh and a half. I wonder what Murray, Greg and Jeff would have made of this.

Andrew, having seen quite a number of Wiggles shows, I've gotten to see that often things that look improvised actually aren't. Perhaps the spontaneity appeals to children, in that everything doesn't look planned and perfect all the time? (In real life, we often run into new situations and sometimes have to improvise rather than stand around thinking, "Oh no! What now?" or avoiding the whole thing just to avoid having to deal with a situation requiring a workaround.

Somehow, I believe Anthony has to step down as well somewhere up the track. As quoted here '[He's] too old to [Jump from the top of the box]'. I know that with him gone, none of the original group remain, but it's got to happen at some point. Emma, Lachy and Simon are already doing a great job, as has Sam when he took up Greg's position as yellow wiggle.

Oh, I would think that they rehearsed it. But Anthony hasn't been a guitarist at the live shows in quite a while (or at least, not often), and the new guys are new at doing the songs in front of a live audience. That is probably why they did a few free mini-concerts at Westfields (Aussie malls) and other meet and greets like this one before doing "real" full length concerts. The real concerts, regardless of the number of people in the audience, will be a piece of cake for them after this.

Have you seen "Go Captain Feathersword Ahoy", the version done outdoors at Dreamworld, with the children with cheerleader pom-poms? There, I think, is the earliest version of a Wiggles-like costume for girls. Look familiar? Add the new stripe, and make a shorter skirt with black tights, and there's Emma's costume. I'd have preferred all of them in pants, but apparently many little girls and young Moms think the skirt is cute. A full yellow dress would look frightfully "Star Trek" IMHO.

Ugh man I hate the new wiggles I mean here’s the reasons it’s because every time a song where like someone sings for Emma Lachy aka Lachlan always sings like there’s a short version of Emma and in the intro he sings and the outro or whatever song has to do with Emma he sings the song and lachy isn’t his name he is Lachlan and he has a gay hairdo and he sounds like a guy trying to sound like a girl and all the wiggles call Simon simo it’s like for real. But i guess that explains why the wiggles channel comments are off and they should learn that putting a girl as a wiggle is not good

I guess it's to each their own, in terms of which Wiggles one prefers. A LOT of little kids prefer the new ones, and Emma is probably the most popular, so I think "a girl as a wiggle" is a good idea. And if Lachy wants to do lots of stuff with Emma, what's wrong with that? They're the two young Wiggles AND they're married. No nicknames? Then what about Jeff, who for all we know is Jeffrey?
